Need help info on what to tell service man aging

My 1976 Westy will make as sound like that if the stationary plastic deflector ring pops off and drags on the spin basket; but it only happens in one direction of rotation. This is a ring on an older FL washer that helps keep items from getting behind the basket at the door/opening.
Since the metal spin basket is like a drum or bell; any little rub makes a hell of lot of racket.
Something like a lost hair combo can too find its way between the tub and spin basket and rub and make a racket too; often high pitched and fast.
A weird shorted motor winding can make weird sounds too; sometimes they are not there if the power is not on.

Loose Army Man might need help ; and is caught behind basket
Your 1st video sounds like the drag of the westys deflector ring if it rubs; but yours works both CCW and CW rotations.
Once the drum is revolving fast enough the there is still rubbing; but the vibrating piece cannot move fast enough. You are driving it way past its natural resonance .

Pretty sure that GE is made by Samsung and has a direct drive motor. Both SamsungParts and SearsPartsDirect list your machine.
The lack of spinning could be caused by the machine sensing rubbing/resistance. Pretty sure Samsung introduced that as a feature to prevent/reduce damage. That sound could be rubbing on the seal. Perhaps a foreign object has gotten lodged in between the basket. Doesn't take much to make a lot of noise or create a lot of damage. Those are just guesses though.

Thanks now the wait starts to hear back from service company that ge sends. I made sure the boot was not rubbing. Also looked around the boot with a flash light. Just odd it started this the other day. Other wise it has worked great.
Other thing it has a click sound when you bump the drum unloading or loading. Sort of like a ink pen when you click it.
I got the 5 year warrtny on this one. Since ge clams they will fix or replace it. Last night was fun packing slopy went cloths to the coin op. I got a wringer and forgot all about it. or I would have rang then out.
It did have a error code when I went to service menu but it deleted it. It was u2 or u1. No where on the serivce sheet is that or any u code listed.
I know one thing that sound makes my teeth hurt.

A lot of Samsung machines used UE to indicate an unbalanced load error. New Samsung machines might use it to indicate improper rotation/balance detected. Shame I can't find a comprehensive fault code sheet for recent Samsung washers.

Could have been ue that sounds right. The thing will not stay balanced at all. I gave it a try it with half load full and 1 item only. It just would not kick into spin. Will if empty.
Also ge clams to have only one service company in this area. Going to call service aging this thing has got to have something wrong with it.
Service tech was nice and went over a few things about this washer. He likes it for the way it is built. And the size of it. But he never went into the service of it.
He told me get this to use it till it breaks then ge will replace it. What up with that can not use this thing if it want spin. lol

Never waste your money on a service contract, why get stuck with a product for 5 years that they can't even get to work to your satisfaction during the first year warranty that you already paid for when you bought the washer. Demand satisfactory repair or either get a replacement or your money back, and as the service contract hasn't kicked in yet get your money back on that, you could always get a contract latter if you decide that you have money to throw away. Although playing the lottery has a better return that most service contracts.

So this update is not a good one but in a way it isgood.
Service man called me to get more info on this washer. At the same time he was talking to GE. Ge said it is a ssmsung washer and that there are not many in service in the usa right now. But they have had no problems with the ones out there today.
Me thinking to myself has Samsung had problems with this washer type in the Uk or any other place.
So long hold he gets back on the phone. Ge is sending the whole rear tub replacement. They said it sounds like the bearings witch like most are pressed in.
Also sending a motor and new shocks. Why them parts no clue.
I am go to call snd stop the warranty I bought. Ge told him they would give me another 1 year warranty on it.
Now what has me worried is the service man has never seen this washer apart. Also he has to wait for the service guide to come to him along with the parts. So I will have to hope they can fix it. Ugh
They will also replace the door boot. Why can they not reuse the old one? Hell this is going to be a new washer ion the end. lol I think ge needs to get there act together on this stuff. If I was the company GE and the washer needing to be fix cost more then the unit I would have them junk the old unit and replace.

It is a good bet that he really has never seen one before apart, since it is a 24" frame machine that is really not used much in the usa. When I looked at new washers last fall here locally, I never saw a 24" machine on a showroom floor.
When somebody has never seen or worked on a machine before often more parts than are required are sent; they want to get your washer working right.
