NEED HELP WITH THIS FRIGIDAIRE PUMP IMPELLER PLEASE

i am working on this frigidaire slant top dishwasher that i bought while in mich. at matt's (everythingold). am trying to put in a new pump seal but once again, just like with the g.e. mobile maid, this wash impeller is stuck to the motor shaft!

before i rig a pump puller like i successfully did with the g.e. mobile maid i wanted to make sure it does indeed slide off and not screw off. am i missing something here?

if anyone has ever worked on this style pump and has any advice i would appreciate it. have enclosed pics of the problem!

i tried rigging a puller

using wire that i passed underneath this stuck hub. the wire broke as i increased the pushing down action of the center bolt

next i tried a different

approach.

i drilled 2 small holes in sides of impeller, opposite each other and rigged up this puller on it. but i tightened down on bolt, pusing down on motor shaft and pulling up on hub and no luck!

i am afraid to keep increasing pressure as it might break hub. was wondering maybe if it's meant to screw off rather than pull off. i doubt it but thought i'd ask.

My copy of Doctrine says that the part you're pulling is the drain strainer and drain impeller plate.

I'd scan it for you, but since HP produces such fine devices...

Anyhow, here's the word of GM regarding assembly:

The pump plate mounts to the sump of the wash tank. The seal assembly is press fit into the sump housing. The motor shaft which has two flat sides, extends through the seal assembly. The ceramic washer and rubber retainer press fits into the drain impeller as a sub-assembly which, in turn, slip fits onto the motor shaft. The drain impeller plate then is fastened to the sump housing. The drain strainer rests on top of the drain impeller plate with three non-symmetrical locators on the strainer matching notches provided in the plate. The recirculation impeller fits onto the motor shaft and is secured by a bolt and sealing washer. The bolt threads into the motor shaft.

The recirculation housing rests on top of the entire pump assembly with the housing being fastened through the drain strainer, and into the sump housing. Only the recirculation impeller and the drain impeller with ceramic washer and rubber retainer rotate with the motor shaft.

We need to figure out how to get your drain strainer assembly out (gently).

It should just pull out...maybe take a very tiny jeweler's screwdriver and start prying gently at the edges around the perimeter? I see you already have the screw for the drain impeller plate out. Maybe some people more experienced than I have some good pointers for you. (If it were Greg, he'd hit it with his wrist, and it'd fall out beautifully, while I'd be there with tweezers and a Q-tip trying to tease it loose.)

I hope this helps...be gentle trying to get at the drain impeller assembly!
