This is a unit I may try to buy if they will take WAY less than asking price but any, it has the red safety bar and a turquoise agitator. Is this color agitator correct or is it a replacment?
September 1963. That machine would have originally had a black bakelite agitator. The turquoise polypropylene agitator that you describe made its debut in January of 1966.
How much should I offer for this J2L assuming it's operational? Your opinions are appreciated!!
I have not seen it in person yet but looks well kept!?!?
I'm just ballparking here, but i would say anywhere between $100-$150 would be a fair price for that machine. It looks VERY clean. But without the original agitator that drops the price some. Also it is NOT a pump model which would increase the price $25-$50. Visually, the rollers look good so that's a plus.
Mark thanks for all you knowledge. It's great when others take a moment to help others.
I actually had offered $120 for her and they accepted. The terms are contingent to my inspection as I have not seen it in-person yet. This is totally backwards how I would normally operate but I wanted to come to some sort of agreement prior to driving an hour one way with an original asking price of $500!!! I exchanged emails explaining why that was not a reasonable price and they asked me to make an offer...so did.
I'll see it Wednesday and hope it works as well as it looks.
