I've gotten a lot of help from everyone on here. Thank you. But I'm still having problems getting my Maytag J2LP up and running. Here's the history.
-- Purchased from a man who stated it was working but didn't have a plug. When it arrived, the clarification was that it last worked 15 years ago and was then stored.
-- Gave it to my wonderful friend (WF) who works on old equipment. He gave it a new plug, got it working; but said it smoked and probably needed the motor worked on a bit.
-- WF uninstalled the motor and took it to a motor repair shop that cleaned out 15 years worth of dust and crud.
-- WF reinstalled the motor.
-- Got one wash out of it fine. With second wash, there was so much smoke I'm amazed the fire department wasn't called.
WF will look at it again, but is requesting a service manual if possible. I've checked on the ephemera site and see an instruction manual, but not a service manual.
If someone can help me find a service manual for my J2LP (it actually does have a pump, just no hook on the hose), I would be thrilled. Or, if not that, some contact info from someone here who is a walking/talking service manual for these machines. I know there are some out there.
Thanks for any help.
