Need more knowledge on this washer

Does anyone have any pics of the drive mechanism or happen to have the service manual? This washer has me very intrigued:



It seems to follow the VMW concept, just 30 years ahead of its time.

you can still find these machines occasionally on CL/ebay...

but if you want to go a bit updated, think about an Avanti/MagicChef/Madea/RCA version.....capacity and cycle/option variables are endless...

What was the drive mechanism like? The tub was suspended on all fours?

It looks like GE and Samsung are now using this concept.

This is my machine. Model WWP1150VAJWH

The only thing not original is the pump. Mine developed a leak at the motor
shaft seal. I replaced it with a pump that I found for a Haier washer that was
almost an exact fit. Had to drill one new hole to mount it.

Thank you- exactly what I was looking for.

I have to hand it to Hitchi- right here we see the future of modern vertical access washers created some 40 years ago. Ingenious design- makes me wonder why it did not catch on in the US. That filter is also a good idea- seen a ton of world washer where a hair pin falls in and stalls the pump.

BTW- is that the tech sheet above the pump to the left?

Love it! I have an '83 Sanyo. Very similar. The timer went and no replacements any where. I discovered the brass notches in the timer were worn down and painstakingly filed each one deeper with a rat tail miniature file. It worked! She sits in a corner never to be abused again by a careless relative who needed a loaner while hers was awaiting parts.

Would pics of the knob and tub be to much lol?

I will admit that I have never seen one in person, but these critters have me in love all over again. I am fascinated with them atm.

Up until 2010 I had a Kenmore world washers and I have to say that perhaps that was on of the best washers I have ever owned. It cleaned supper well, fitted a lot for its size, rarely suds locked and rinsed well despite not having any spray rinses. Was really gentle on the Handwash cycle as well.

From everything I am researching, it looks like most washers outside of the Us have used the VMW concept for some time.

I had a Hitachi with a full size agi that was from this era of Japanese produced machines. It certainly liked to knot things up despite the agitator. As you will see the agitation was quite fast. It wasn’t the best washer I’ve used but interesting none the less.

I currently have a twin tub by Hitachi that has an impeller which i find works very well and doesn’t knot as bad as other impeller machines I’ve used. Perhaps it is because the impeller is slightly offset and reverses it’s action regularly. These twin tubs were once a best seller in Australia alongside Hoover so they must have got something right

GEs Hitachi Compact washers

These were fun, we worked on hundreds of them over the years, but they certainly were not great performers, They were water hogs, they were very hard on clothing, and they did not clean evenly and rinsing was also poor, about the only good things about them was pretty decent reliably, good spinning and vibration control with the strut suspension.

My guess for the poor rinsing would be the lack of spin between rinses. Any idea why they choose no spin?
