Shipping on the cheap
Guys I have to let you in on the best kept shipping secret. As someone who collects heavy old powered reel mowers from the 1920's I can say todays shipping prices put a damper on buying and selling stuff. I happened to stumble on the fact that Fastenal actually ships stuff on pallets very cheaply compared to others. They figure any cash they get to send an empty semi trailer back to their warehouses with a pallet load is better than them paying the drivers, etc out of pocket. As an example I shipped a 300lb mower on a 4'X6' pallet from CT to OH for $125.00. UPS wanted $400.00. For shipping a washer or dryer you simply buy two cheap ratchet straps at Home Depot and secure it to the pallet and done. The thing is you need to source a pallet and also drop it off at Fastenal yourself and make sure that store has a fork truck. You just have to call the central office and get a quote the stores cant give that out. I hope this helps out.
