Hi Terry,
Sorry I haven't made it up to KC to see you and John yet. Just got back from my cousin's in Wisconsin. Was up there for 10 days and needed a good rest to recuperate.
As for your question, there is a plastic deflector that fits in that hole and deflects the bleach to the side in a counter-clockwise direction, so no, it shouldn't be reamed out. Unfortunately you can't get that deflector out w/o removing the inter tub or wash basket and at that point you might as well tear down the machine and do a restore, since you're already half way there. Judging from the looks of things in the background, it could use it. This is most always the case with a 40 to 50 year old machine.
I'd love to come and help you, but I'm not sure when I can get away again and I don't know what kind of work area you have. I'm not going to try and work out in this weather right now. An indoor shop/work area is always better. I have all the tools and most of the parts. Figuring out a plan/time is another issue. I can answer questions from afar, as others can and might, but it's always nice to have someone there who's been through it before. Keep us updated.
Brian
