I ran the fault code listing,

It says code 8, which is "button stuck down for more than 75 seconds".

Resolution

The maytag representative was friendly and helped me work thru getting a warrenty repair on this. However I doupt I could have gotten here without AW members help.

points to log if you are in this situation
1) Keypad & logic board are considered "electronic" and are coverd by 60 month warrenty repair.

Lack of being 1st owner with proof of purchase of no matter given the SN indicates a mfg date within the 60 months warranty.

I explained how the diagnostic log showed a code8, and the keypad test showed a bad key.

So the parts are being shipped to me, skipping the need for an unnecessary trip by a service man to verify what I already learned from the diagnostics.

I'm smiling and there's hope.

That's great that Maytag will take care of business! Sorry to be so insistant about the warranty angle, but it's always been my mindset to not nail the customer for something that the factory SHOULD cover. Are you dealing with a local factory rep? Maytag's just covering the parts or something more?

I just call the 800 number listed above, and the service representative is having the consol pad assy and logic board fed exd to me

The parts are not hard to install, 4 screws and 3 connectors to plug in. It really couldn't be easier.

Parts arrived today

I've never know fedex to take 4 days, but I'm yet pleased to have replacement parts as of today.

I'll let you know how it goes. Replacement is straightforward.

The repair worked, my drying center is fully functional again.

No unexpected arc/sparks is good... Congrats! One more thing to be aware of. Lint tends to collect beneath the filter in the plenum right where it enters the blower housing (this is true of all middle to newer Norge/Magic Chef designs). It can build up and choke off airflow and cause nusance thermo-fuse blows. Occasionally, you will have to pull the front panel off to get to it. Of course, I had to tell you AFTER you put it back together...
