I got a upgrade from Maytag 6 yrs ago, venting system, new board, 2 yrs ago, I put a new Pump on it, today, washer starts, fills rotates and shuts off, What is wrong with the machine?, do I put money into a new circuit board, repairman due out Friday afternoon, any trouble shooting or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had one that the door lock light came on, but the lock mechanism (wax motor) didn't work. There are two micro-switches that are tripped by the latch moving into proper (locked) position and the door being closed. One of those switches could be at fault, the wax motor itself or it could be a problem on the control board.

you know i still don't get it. Am i the only one that thinks. that something that was simply designed as far back as the 1940's with simple electro-mechanical controls, has needlessly become an engineering nightmare? i know some of you have had good luck with these new fangled F/L's - seems like A Lot of money for a Lot of trouble to me.

Re: Neptune Washer Problem:

Kim, I've been told by a few Maytag Repair Tech's that both the Controller Board and the Wax Motor need to be replaced at the same time. They found out that if the Controller Board was replaced only, it didn't remedy the problem, at least not for a longer period of time. Supposedly after the Replacement of both, the Washers seemed to be all right, as far as from what that problem was with them.

I hope that this helps you. I would if it were me, get that Washer Repaired and keep it running as long as possible. They are actually going to be a Collector's Item, now that they seem to be replaced with the newer Model's with the Windows on the Washer now.

Peace and Kind Regards, Steve

Neptune

My brothers already decided if it needs a control board and switch he gonna dump it for a new machine, I won't let it go to the crusher, probably try and fix it myself, can you get control board and switch online somewhere instead of repairman? Thanks for your input!!

Wax Motor and Control Board

You have to replace BOTH. The original wax motor design allowed moisture to get inside it, and that was what usually caused control board problems. The original wax motor had a BLACK actuating pin, so if your wax motor has that, you have an old unit that needs to be replaced. The redesigned wax motor has a BROWN actuating pin.

As has been said, eBay has a lot of these parts available. You should be fine if you're handy repairing appliances.

OH MY GOD- I'M SORRY!!!

Kim:

I got the actuating pin colours exactly BACKWARDS when I posted the preceding message. The ORIGINAL wax motor had the brown pin, and the REDESIGNED one has the black pin.

I really do apologise- I should not have posted this off the top of my head. The part number for the redesigned wax motor is 22002119.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa...
