I now have a Neptune Washer with a bad tub bearing. I'm thinking of replacing it so I can resell the machine. Applianceaid.com has very extensive instructions for replacing the tub bearing on the FriGEMore FLs, but doesn't really say anything about the Neptune tub bearing. Has anyone here attempted this repair and are there any pitfalls I should avoid?

How did it go?

Hi David,
So how did you get on with the bearing replacment? I hope it went smoothly for you I know some machines can be real pigs when it comes to extracting the old bearings. In fact a lot of the cheaper UK models only last a couple of years at most and are way to expensive to repair so you could call them a disposable machine, in fact they are a total wast of money and resources.

All the best.
Hugh.

Re: Maytag Neptune Tub Bearing:

Hi! David, if you haven't gotten any info yet about the Tub Bearing Replacement and haven't been able to figure it out as of yet, you might try to contact a Maytag Dealer or maybe even Maytag might be able to connect you with a Service Tech to tell you about how to replace the Tub Bearing.

It was just a thought, in case your still not sure about getting it replaced for sure.

Nope!

I stuck that Neptune in the back room for now- been too busy with Convention and other things to get started on such a major project. The little frigidaire tub bearing replacement went fairly well, so if the Maytag is just as easy it will be no problem. I should get on it quick because people around here still think Maytags the best.

Dont forget..........

Dont forget to replace the spinner support as well. The old shaft and new bearing dont get along to well together. In some cases you have to beat the support out of the bearing.

Other than that the job isnt very difficult. Allow about 3hrs for you first time.

Thanks Jetcone

I knew that the bearing was a part of the rear tub assembly. The scan of the service manual may be helpful if there are some pitfalls to avoid, otherwise I can probably figure it out myself.

Sure was nice to see you too at the convention. I'm sorry we didn't have more time together. I think the next convention should be a week long.

Belville. Did someone say Belville?
