Neptune windows

well it's no secret I like Neptunes.....and thanks to a wonderful person, despite so much going on in his life, made time to send me a windowed door for a Neptune dryer...a million thanks goes out to Drew.....this is like the coolest ever.....

were also working on ideas to either turn the interior light on, or attach a LED light in there somewhere.....

from seeing this one in detail, it is also giving me ideas on possibly installing the plexiglas on the washer...

it was hard to decide which machine it should go on....but figured since these units are with the vintage ones where I have the wash-ins, it would be best so when members visit, they will be able to view it as well..

What an unusual door on the far left unit! But I like it a little more as it echoes the curves of the panel top.
Where's the logo for this or didn't it come with one? Are you planning to put a logo on it, then, Martin?

Love the windowed washers and dryers.

Phil, the windowed door came from a Neptune double stacked commercial dryer. There were no emblems as the average laundromat user would try to rip it off anyway. Here's a pic of what they looked like. The donor door came from the bottom dryer.

Glad it made it in one piece, Martin! Now all I gotta do is find 2-3 more and you can have a laundromat going there.

Why didn't Maytag sell their washers with windowed doors for this product line? Was it a matter of the glass being too expensive?

When the Neptune . . .

. . . first came out, I talked with a woman at Maytag telling her that if the washer had a window so I could watch it, I'd buy one immediately. She told me that the door had sound insulation to make the machine run quietly and that there would be no windows.

I did NOT buy one.

I think I might have a few emblems around here somewhere, just to make them all match....

as for the glass, when I contacted Maytag, it was noted that they surveyed 100 people, and the people quoted they didn't need to see the laundry washing, so none was added, they sure as heck didn't ask any one of us......and believe me, there is NO insulation inside those doors...but there is a spring tensioner mechanism inside that is supposed to be for balancing....yet is not attaches to the drum at all....I guess it keeps the door balanced....but again, I took the insides out, and theres no difference, at least none I can tell.....

like any machine out there, companies do some stuff that makes you wonder where their heads are at!....

a great majority of dryers never had windows, now look at them....and this pedestal thing puzzles me, since the washers are now FLers, they need to be raised, dryers have been at ground level for years, and no one complained....why all of a sudden now its a concern?

although any machine with a drop down door is a little easier to load and unload, at least in my opinion....

I was just thinking about trying to find a stack-dryer windowed door for my Neptune Stack washer/dryer the other day.  I do like the window demo-door on the washer, is there glass/plexiglas on the inside?

even the Flintstones FL washing machine had a window, so you could see the trained monkey inside scrubbing the clothes on a scrubboard!...and this was the laundyroom of the future for them...

They would need bright lighting, a large wall-mounted mirror, the ability to bend at the hips and two hands to find them.

It just proved how LITTLE Maytag knew about horizontal axis washing that they would not provide a way to check on the correct amount of product. Glassholes.

Back in the 806 days I was a huge Maytag fan. Now I'm stuck in an institution with FL Maytags that don't wash and TL Maytags that don't rinse.

Yogitunes/Redcarpetdrew -these units look SO much better with the windows; actually like them better with the windows, as they overall improve the archtecture/lines. Anyways, I "like to watch". lol!

You can put me down for either of those windowed dryer doors as I have a few Neptune Dryers and a Neptune SuperStack that I can mod with them. Just saying.

Thread title brings to mind an unholy alliance between Maytag and Microsoft. And maybe Starkist.

But if I had one I would be lusting for the window conversion.
