I was thrilled to find this vintage Mixmaster in mint condition at a Bellingham, Washington antique mall...here's a pic of the beauty!

Is the oval pottery piece a sausage cooker? In one of the South American countries, they make a pottery piece that looks like that....there's a pottery grid on which one lays raw sausages, and tequila is poured into the base, and then set aflame. Is that one?
Anyway, that is an impressive, eye-pleasing arrangement on those shelves!

Forgive my ignorance, but what model Sunbeam is this? My Mom inherited this version from her Aunt Helen in 1975, and it was the one I learned to bake with circa 1979. I love the bowl selector lever on the bottom right side. Mom got rid of it in the mid '80's. Who knew back then that they were equivalent to Cadillacs IMO.

Sausage Stuffer
I won't go there but it conjures a visual. The pottery is something I found at a Thrift Store. There are two pieces, one smaller than the other. I have not used them for fear they might have lead and assumed they might be of Latin derivation. You might be right, Lawrence. Its fun to see what you notice and look for in a picture. I am much the same. Its like going on a home tour.

I too found a Model 11 at a thrift store a several weeks back. Mine is nowhere near as nice as yours, but it runs well. High quality machines to be around for 50+ years. Since finding this one, I am constantly looking at yard sales and flea markets for these mixers. Congratulations on finding yours.

Yours looks in very good condition, many you find are scuffed badly with lots of paint nicks etc
Speaking of Bellingham.. I heard something on the news about the locals getting pissed off at all the Canadians invading their costco. Wasn't a Costco in B'ham when I lived there.. just the Fred Meyer,, is it still there.. and how about "the Hut"

Mixmaster Model 11
This model was the last Mixmaster to have a 10 speed Mix-finder dial. It was manufactured for less than 2 yrs. The first stand mixer to have decorator colors and matching bowls (yellow, pink, turquoise) as well as white and chrome finishes. CU rated them poorly due to test samples having bearing failure during the endurance test which I am not sure CU does anymore. No doubt Kitchenaid would win the test today

Pete ... there are now 2 Fred Meyer locations in Bellingham. Haven't specifically heard complaints about the "Canadian invasion", but I wouldn't doubt there is some frustration with the crowds, on the part of the locals, which I probably can't blame them for. However, cross-border shopping is what keeps many of those stores going - including the entire Bellis Fair Mall. So I guess it's a "2-edge sword".

Seized
The spindles seized in the model 11 endurance run. The manual clearly calls for periodic lubrication which CR doesn't tell us if they did or not. I haven't found any the 11s I buy having more spindle issues than others. Its really important to oil the older Mixmasters and be sure to soak the felt under the handle above where the drive button beater is inserted as well as the juicer port for the PTO. CR likes the KA Classic, the Hamilton Beach "Classic" clone and is okay with the Cuisinart line although Cuisinart is hampered by their poor service centers and numerous rickety plastic add ons.

Wall Display
An older tenant in one of buildings told a neighbor I was really "tasty" after seeing my apartment. I like to have lots of stuff on display and almost nothing sitting around. Thank you for the kind words. Here's another totally tasteful staging area. Thankfully I have a larger house now.

Pete, its a Waring ice cream maker I bought it for the kids in Kansas and they didn't use it. I have a White Mountain 6 quart electric that's my daily driver for homemade ice cream. The Waring works well and makes great ice cream.

Lovely 11! I must admit I bought another 10 this weekend. Dreadful shape, much like the 10 a friend gave me, but I really want to learn how to service these this winter.
I knew it,, I have one as well and guess what,, I bought it at Fred Meyer in Bellingham WA.. waaaaaay back when LOL
Love Kellys mixers!!!The best selection of mixers in one place I know of-they are so RARE out my way for some strange reason.You just see the "rickety" new machines.Lots of KA's though-but none vintage-only vintage one I see here is at the Cracker Barrel resturant decoration displays-and its cord has been cut off!

I love my vintage Sunbeams, too. I have a great little shop here in town that will still work on them, I picked up a very nice 12c a few weeks ago that was seized and needed a new cord; $37 total repair.
Here is the 12C I picked up from the shop yesterday, I'm running on the bench for a 1/2 our or so before putting into the kitchen. The 11C is one I found a couple of weeks ago at an estate sale, it's in fine shape and needed only a a good cleaning and lube - it just purrs.

The 12C I just picked up is one of the nicest I've ever found - as close to new as I've come upon. There is a box in the store room with parts and attachments, I don't typically pick those up anymore either unless I know someone is looking for something particular. They are easy enough to work on and Kelly has been an excellent teacher but I haven't had time to keep up with the major appliances so I've been outsourcing. I've given nearly everyone I know a MM (or tried) and they always get rave reviews. Of course!

I gave my daughter the model 11. She is learning to bake. She really likes having her own mixer. She is wanting me to find the juicer for her. Searching thrift stores and flea markets. They don't turn up too often.

Love the Mixmaster
Seeing those mixers brings back fond memories. My Grandmother had one and she finally wore hers out. She got it for a birthday present in the 50s. Hers was like the one that looks like it has eyes on the front rather than the large disc. When she died, it had quit working and looked rough. She got her money's worth out of it.

One of our Catholic churches has their big treasure sale this weekend, and I saw the bowl where the reamer for the Sunbeam juicer fits into marked @ 25 cents. They actually had quite a few mixer bowls for Sunbeams, HB's, and others.

....One of the hardest ones to find - the chrome-finished Model 10C of 1954-55. This was offered only toward the end of the Model 10's run, and it was a limited-edition test run to see if consumers really would pay the price for a chrome version, which it turned out they would. The Model 11 of 1955 was the first Mixmaster that offered a chrome model all the way through the model run.

I think chrome was an extra $5 or so - but remember, the US dollar was worth eight times in 1955 what it is today. In modern fiat money, it would be a $40 differential.
