I re-watched the 'Horrible Dryer' - this time with sound - and a thought came to mind...
Perhaps the odour you're getting concentrated in the dryer, is actually coming from the washing machine.
With my 1 year old Slovenian Panasonic washer, I find that liquid detergents seem to react with the rubber washing machine components. There is next to no odour if the laundry is line-dried. However, if instead I tumble dry them in my ancient condenser dryer, a pungent rubbery smell is extremely noticeable. The previous washing machine never did that to the laundry.
In my experience, powders generally don't appear to do that - but I do have my suspicions about the non-bleach Daz 'Whites & Colours' - I have detected the odd whiff.
Persil Powergems seems not to cause the rubbery fragrance to be released.
