Nice looking machine.

What is the spin cycle like? Does it balance the load quickly, or does it faff about for yonks?

Spin cycle

Hi Rolls. If my previous LG was a `faff about for yonks' and my other current machine (a Siemens) is `quick' to balance, I would say this is in the middle! If you look at the Rinse 1 / interim spin video above you'll see it has 2 or maybe three attempts before spinning. I'm just uploading the final spin sequence video now which I haven't actually watched yet (I was sorting dinner) so don't know how many attempts it takes.

Looking at it globally though it's not a disaster for balancing as cycle times tend to come in as they should.

It certainly looks as though it can get the load to balance quite quickly. I imagine the 'drops back to distribution speed' are 'sensing portions', probably to see if any items are greater or lighter mass than the rest of the load.

What's wrong with the dryer? The video is titled "horrible dryer" ... and I've got my audio off.

Is it one of those dampness sensor ones, which says the load is dry, when really it is still wet?

Condenser dryers

The only time I got laundry to smell well was with a cobdenser dryer. Dryer sheets do wonders in these due to the steamy enviroment.

However heatpumpdryers dry at the super low temps. Would never trade any heatpump dryer for a vented ir condenser one.

Here is a clip of a small load during the washing process on `Cottons' setting. Once the water has heated it does distri-tumbles. Kicks up some suds - careful dosing necessary! It's quite fun to watch / listen to and a quirk of the machine I rather like. Not quite so much drama as the Hoover NewWave or Zanussi Jetsystem of course........

I re-watched the 'Horrible Dryer' - this time with sound - and a thought came to mind...

Perhaps the odour you're getting concentrated in the dryer, is actually coming from the washing machine.

With my 1 year old Slovenian Panasonic washer, I find that liquid detergents seem to react with the rubber washing machine components. There is next to no odour if the laundry is line-dried. However, if instead I tumble dry them in my ancient condenser dryer, a pungent rubbery smell is extremely noticeable. The previous washing machine never did that to the laundry.

In my experience, powders generally don't appear to do that - but I do have my suspicions about the non-bleach Daz 'Whites & Colours' - I have detected the odd whiff.

Persil Powergems seems not to cause the rubbery fragrance to be released.
