New Apt, New Appliances

So I moved to a new apt. a month ago, and was delighted to find it full of relatively new GE kitchen appliances. Everything works great and looks great.

Here's the DW, GSD4000n with the active micro filter under the wash arm.
It only uses 5.2 gal. of water on Normal, but you've guessed it, it's run time is a bit extended because of it. But that's ok, it's still under 2hrs.

Nice styling. I like the controls to be visible, hidden ones annoy me.

What is the difference between 'Heavy Wash' and 'Pots & Pans'?

ooh I had this machine to replace my nasty Kitchen Aid bought in the years where there was a "yibbes and bits" problem, especially in the top rack.

One wants to say "Pots & Pans" added additional heat to the water at key times of the cycle program(me).

It took a bit longer than my GE Triton that was in the basement, but still, overall a good machine

GE had to junk the first one (which was irreparable and three control panels later) right out of the box. Took months to get some satisfaction. Original one turned on only when IT wanted to-- after pushing its buttons.

I was looking for a Mayag engineereed one, but at the price pint I wanted(rock bottom; the hosie was beign sold) there was no "Rinse Only" / "Rinse & Hold" button.

The KA was SS on the inside and had amazing open racking with no tower cutouts,a nd HUGE capacity.

The GE racking was weak IMHO ,but it washed well and was quick and was somewhat of a water-hog. YAY!

Still, far better racking than a Bosch.

What is the difference between 'Heavy Wash' and &#39

Heavy Wash uses 7.5 gallons of wateer and is 108 minutes long. Pots'n'Pans uses 8.8 gallons of water and is 112 minutes long. I suspect the other main difference is the P'n'P cycle turns the heater on during the main wash phase at least, but is not thermostatically delayed. Heavy Wsah has more water exchanges (1 more) than normal wash and adds 3 minutes. Those stated times do not include an additional 30 minute heated dry when that option is selected.

Activating high temp rinse & high-temp wash options will simply energize the heater throughout the entire wash & rinse cycle, but no thermostatically delayed feature is used.

ahh, thanks for the heat boost clarification. i wondered why the high temp rinse was the same time as the regular final rinse.....

either way, this machine has actually cleaned some pots and pans better than the old Triton XL i had at my last place, which was also a very good machine, but it had issues with starchy pots. this thing does it all.

i really like GE's new styling too. I think they're the best looking out there.

there was a period where WPs consoles were just hideous and plebeian. this is simple and tasteful.
