New Ariel Excel Gel

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Its crazy how much the prices vary around the stores! Somehow I dont think I'd pay almost £4 or more for 18 washes! Though I will addmit, it is great stuff LOL!

I bought another two this week whilst its still at £2 at Asda! My other detergents havent seen the light of day recently, its been Ariel galore lol! Ariel really is my fave detergent brand! :-)

I wonder how long it will be before we see a supermarket brand version of this Gel in a shower gel bottle!

Ariel Excel Gel

Hi Folks,
I'm glad almost everyone is enjoying this new detergent.
I absolutely adore it and have been stocking up (Read hoarding), I have four cases each of the Bio, Bio with Febreeze effect and a couple of cases of the Colour variant plus the first lot I bought. There are six packs per case and I purchased the lot from Asda at £2.00 per pack, which was reasonable I thought.

I generally avoid Tesco where possible as its an expensive place to shop, "Britain's Biggest Discounter" what a joke.

I did the toughest test yet (for me at least!) - some white napkins that had quite crusty pasta-type sauce and gravy stains from at least 2 weeks ago. (yuck - I'd forgotten about them!). Put them in at 30º with the Febreze version, they came out completely clean and not a hint of anything on them. I at least expected a faded stain to be there but nope, nothing! Perfect.

David - I can't believe Asda let you buy up their cases of it! I might give that a try too - lol!

Hoarding at Asda

Hi Simon,
The manager of my local Asda is a good friend of mine, however he knew nothing about my bulk buying LOL. It was one of the very friendly assistants whom kindly went to the store room for me, a few minutes later he brought the cases to the store room door in a cage like apparatus. Ask one of the Asda assistants and I'm sure they will help you.
I like shopping at Asda as I find the prices reasonable and stores are always clean.

Price update...

Still £2.00 in Asda this morning and judging by the HUGE display stand complete with price looks like it may be for a while :).

Grabbed another Colour and another Bio- they were out of Fabreze :(.

Has anyone else noticed that apart from the scent and colour the Bio and Colour versions actually have identical ingedients !!!

Did a load of colors a few days ago. The cycle I used on our Electrolux was cottons cold with extra quick and gentle (that's 25 min. wash, deep rinse, spin, medium level rinse, spin, med. level softening rinse, 1400 rpm spin). I measured the water temperature both at the beginning and at the end of the main wash: 18°C (65 Fahrenheit).

Visibly, the clothes were clean but there was still *some* BO left - though I have to say that I wore that particular shirt two days and its second day was especially challenging, since I was running through the airport to catch my flight...

I don't quite know what to make of the result. I think I would have to try washing another load in cold water with Persil gel so I can compare. Or I could try the non-shortened cycle...

One thing to note, though: I didn't use any softener to see whether the gel gets thoroughly rinsed from my clothes, which it did BTW. What I'm saying is, maybe the softeners I used always masked any BO left on my clothes and I never realized clothes weren't perfectly clean?

A definitely positive effect: the wash only took 61 minutes and used 0,31 kWh. Pics to follow!

Yeah Seamus, I noticed that too. There *must* be other differences though. I got another couple of Colour versions from Asda too - the big displays were virtually empty.

And is it just my versions or is the Bio the only one with a valve type dispenser thing, instead of just a hole that's on the Febreze & Colour versions?

I managed to pick up 4 of each type of the new Ariel gel at Asda Clapham Junction, but it took me a week of popping in every morning!(luckily, i work nearby) I am VERY impressed with it.Will try getting some more but the shelve is always empty!

LOL you go to the same Asda's as me! I wonder if there going to get some more in! Ive noticed the shelves have been empty the past few days too lol

Im still loving the Ariel Gel!! Cant reccomend it enough :D!!

Ariel Excel Gel

Hi Folks,
I'm still loving this detergent and so far no problems with stinky towels or machines, although the Dyson requested an Allergy cycle today.

I have only had one stain not come out for me thus far. A product called Fortisip (See link), its a nutritional supplement our Doctor prescribes for my Grandmother. Granny has Alzheimer's disease and sometimes will not eat her meals but she will drink a Fortisip. Anyway she poured a full glass of Fortisip over her tray and the nearest thing I grabbed to wipe it up was one of my white hand towels.
It was washed at 20°C in the Dyson but there was still traces of the stain left, I rewashed the load in Ariel Excel Gel at 50°C with some Ecover Oxygen Bleach and the stain was gone. Fortisip can be a difficult stain to remove depending on the flavour and colour.

Spoodles

I have the Bio version. Mine does not have a valve, merely a flip-top lid and a hole. There is certainly no 'spill-lock' rubber valve, like they have on shower-gels, or the Parozone bleach.

Maybe you've got the latest version off the production line!
