New BOL(Bottom Of the Line) Kenmore dual action agitator washer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

700 rpm spin is not too shabby

But adding cold water to the 'hot' setting is unacceptable.

I want a washer to clean my clothes, not just to redistribute the dirt.

Still - it's a step in the right direction.

Curious Description

The use of the word "members" in the description is odd - like it was written to be offered at a warehouse club.

-Deep Fill Option: This option allows you to choose a higher water level on select cycles. This feature gives members more control and flexibility with a dedicated option to increase the water level on select cycles.

Tub

From the vids it looks like they shortened the metal tub so there could be less water while still appearing to fill to the "top"? Also don't like how the agitator turns while its filling.

The fill agitation is similar to what was present on certain direct drive models, right? The only issue I see with this is that the agitation profile seems harsh for a partially wet load of clothes. I bet it'll take a toll over time... but don't these machines use variable speed motors? I would think that these would have a slower agitation for auto sensing and even the delicate cycle instead of pulsed agitation.

As for the Deep Fill option, I don't really understand why they went backwards with this. There were pressure switches on the older machines, so why not leave those on and have the auto sensing fill toggled by the electronic control board? Sometimes you just want a little more water, not a full tub. GE has them beat in this category.

Gosh,

If that's all it takes to make 'hot' 'hot' and not 'luke-warm', then I'm more inclined to like these BOLs.

Still doesn't make sense to me - there is no government requirement that manufactures 'must' sell HE machines. They could easily sell a range in which the stupid functions are disconnected and you get full water fills and 'hot' 'hot' water.

Fill and agiatate

I can't speak for the very last direct drives made, but I know up until 2010 all none HE direct drives did not agitate while filling. Neither did the earlier versions of the VM. I must admit the fact the new versions are doing this is rather upsetting and also irritating. I somehow have a feeling this is so clothes where down, appearing to wear just as fast in deep wash as impeller wash so consumers can not call on being better over the other. But as someone once told me consumers will eventually be compelled to buy front load. Very sad, there are several things whirlpool could have done to improve this washer, but then again they can only do so much with regulations.
