Hi, all .I finelly got my new DW from Lowe's. This Bosch model # is she46c02vc/33. This Dw has a "top rack only"load. Well, I've ran it several time on that cycle with dishes on the bottom rack, and I open it up quick and there is water spraying from the bottom rack. Why is this????.....Bill in Az....

Half Load Option

Usually the half load option turns off the middle rack, and leaves the bottom and the top third arm spraying.

If you only have two wash arms, then it just runs the bottom arm.

I havent had experience with Bosch, but this is how the Euro Whirlpools do half load.

My former dishwasher, a TOL Frigidaire, had both 'top rack only' and 'bottom rack only' options. The first couple of minutes of the wash and rinse cycles would spray from the bottom arm, then it would switch to the middle arm for the remainder of the time (for the top rack only cycle). I think it does that to dissolve detergent and clean debris off the lower part of the wash tub.

The higher-end Frigidaires alternate washing between the lower arm and middle arm on all cycles. Don't know if Bosch's do this.

My Whirlpool DW does like that either...

If I choose half load, only bottom sprayer and and the uppest one work, and the User's manual says to load ONLY top rack in the lowest position (it may be regulated on two levels).

The latest models instead has got 6th Sens HL, Whirlpool calls it "Multizona", that is you can choose the rack in which you want to load and wash:
1. generally the top rack is used if you have got not many dishes left to wash or if they're not so dirty, there only middle and ceiling sprayers work
2. while if you use the bottom rack it's in order to increase the efficiency of the bottom sprayer power generally with a pot&pan's load with an Intensive cycle, ceiling sprayer works as well.

I've been staing alone for two weeks, because my parents and my sister left home on holiday before me, but I WOULDN'T HAVE EVER WASHED ANYTHING BY HAND! So my little daily load has been collected in the top rack only to be washed oneday-onedayNOT.

Top Rack Only

I have the Bosch and I use the Top Rack option often. I have never taken the opportunity to open the door quickly to see what's going on though. I know it sounds different when it's running that way. I hear the water hitting the door just a little bit.

Now that I think about it, maybe the bottom is spraying and I hear the water hitting the door because it is not being blocked by dishes and pans. I know that the entire dishwasher is always clean when it's finsihed so I always assumed the bottom sprayer ran at least a little bit to clean the bottom portion of the dishwasher.
