That's very interseting. A startup company with a name that speed queen used to use for a series of their machines(marathon) and lots of folks from Wisconsin. Coincidence? I don't know.
They do not appear to be affiliated with SQ but definitely uses SQ's FF7 washer as the base of their machine.

Was this the same company that was going to make these several years ago using a Chinese GE FL washer as their starting platform ?
In any case they are starting with a better machine, the only major problem is the tub is a little small for a dryer.
I am going to contact the company to see if we can get more service information and also offer to sign up to service these in the Maryland and DC regions.

Companies sometimes create satellite companies to develop a product and then when it is complete they bring them back into the parent company. Not sure if that's what's happening here.
Looks like they may be using speed queen as an OEM provider and then adding to that for a finished product.

How we feelin' bout Washer / Dryer Combo units?
Anyone care to report in? I'm also curious on whether or not it's an ok idea to get used. I'm still using a DD toploader just because I HATE having to try to get stuff fixed. But maybe I need to get over that...

240v model would solve many complaints of the LG, etc. 120v versions. Will be interesting to see some of the reviews once they're in homes.
If you do chat with them, John, you might offer to correct some of their "Learn" page content...

Hi Greg, Wow I did not read that far, there are already enough mistakes in the introduction pages you can tell they don't know much about the history of combos or even current appliances and electricity, LOL
When they talk about the 120 volt version as having the same cord as a table lamp and how you can install a baulky 280 pound machine anywhere they really don't have a clue.
As I have said before there is almost no market for a $3000-4000 appliance that runs on 120 volts, there is almost no homes in the US where you can't have 240 or 208 volts for a dryer.

That "history" document is absolutely a complete fabricated lie.
Maybe the Marathon version will offer a heater boosted wash temp, better yet, use the heater to maintain and increase wash temperature on all wash cycles. I might consider one then!!!

I cannot have a 240 volt in my apartment. The fact that this is a vented dryer it should still give better results than a condenser model. The only problem I would have is where to vent - I would probably have to use a vent box which I dont know much about them. My current LG combo is in a closet.
I dont think these models are available to the market yet. I would want to see reviews and make sure their would be service in my area before I would purchase one. At times these things look better than they really are!

Touting it as "place anywhere" with a vent? Dosen't sound really that anywhere to me.
The only country that appears to have figured out combos for what ever reason appears to be Japan.
They have heatpump combos that can wash and dry 8lbs loads in 90min. So gentle, quick and efficent.
Not quite sure why they aren't exported. Japan has a 100V system IIRC, Japan has both 50 and 60Hz. So a simple step-down transformer would be enought to sell them ANYWHERE.
These machines appear to be betwenn compact and full size, just taller than usual (basically, a pedestal built in). So maybe not optimal, but certainly not bad in most cases.
They have heaters. They have high airflow.
Maybe not as druable, but heck, what is today?
And expensive? Other heatpump washer dryers retail for over 2k, and they retail for about 300k yen. Which comes out to about 2.4k €.
They have a touchscreen. So easy to translate and adapt.
Overall, not impressed with this beyond the 240V version.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the main exception would be apartments/condos/co-ops. However, I've never heard of a laundry set-up that has venting without 208/240 also being available. So if you're stuck with 120V it's almost guaranteed you also do not have an option to vent. Have I overlooked a common situation?
#10 Vent Box. I'm 99% sure I saw a DIY plan for one with multiple screens in the collection of ancient Popular Science/Popular Mechanics mags I had when I was a kid. That seems like a better option than the water-filled traps I see.

Jim I have the 24" model it is good for washing but not for drying.A lot of the clothes I hangup. The stuff I need the dryer for I mostly use the laundry room to dry. The drying on the combo is just to long.

Yeah, that was a problem. If I had a mixed load I'd check it every half hour and take out the lightest garments in the dryer and hang them up. It was a pain but it was faster than waiting for the whole load to be uniformly dry.

I sent email to this company here is what I get back:
I would be interested in getting 120 volt machine - I want to know if it is necessary to be internet connected to run this unit? I wouldnt want to depend on the internet to make it work. Also I cannot vent from this laundry closet is it possible to hookup with a indoor vent kit if available.

The internet connection is optional, not mandatory. We understand that not everybody wants to connect stuff to the internet, so the machine will work fine without connecting. There are some strong benefits, like software updates, but you could connect every once in a while to update the software, while mostly running offline. It's up to you. Indoor venting is plausible, and we run a lot of test machines without external venting. It's mostly about the moisture, and where it would go. When you dry clothes, all the moisture that was in your clothing will end up in the air, as water vapor.

This machine would be a perfect candidate for a no frills combo.
