New electric dryer needed

Hi All,
I haven't been in the market for a new dryer (for a house) in quite a while and would appreciate advice (have already looked on Consumer Reports) and would like to know what the best brand is for a dryer these days. Need it to be reliable and easy to use. If you have a specific brand and model that you would recommend and why, I'd be very appreciative.

Any Whirlpool family dryer with the lint screen on the right rear of the top is the BEST dryer for the money. Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Roper, Kenmore. As long as the lint screen is on the top, you can't go wrong. Buy by price or features. Some have drop down doors, others have reversible side swing doors.

And has there been a consensus yet wheather thermostatic or electric moisture sensing is better?

The system that only uses temperature monitoring for automatic drying is called AutoDry on Whirlpool models (this is the cheapest option):

The next level up sensing method - called AccuDry - uses conductivity measurements for sensing moisture. It supposedly is more accurate then thermostatic control alone (this model is the cheapest model with that and has one temperature level more):

There is a third level system that combines the both systems, but it's only avaible on a far higher model with electronic controls:

All these are topload matching dryers with controls at the rear. The cheapest dryer matching a frontloader with front controls already has the highest tear sensing system and is every so slightly bigger but not cheap anyways and not the traditional rear filter dryer:

Also, just to keep in mind, you might get Whirlpool made models cheaper under different names (Hotpoint, Amana, Maytag) if you can get offers on something.

In the US, Hotpoint is not a brand name for Whirlpool.  Whirlpool's various brand names in the US for laundry are Whirlpool, Maytag, Admiral, Estate, Roper, and Amana.  Select laundry is supplied to Sears but much of Kenmore laundry is from LG.

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I prefer GE's and Maytags over Whirlpools for their flow-through drying.  My blankets and comforters never dried well in my old WP I had when I first moved out and I had just put a new element in it so it wasn't faulty.  I'd always have to take the item out, turn it  some other direction and replace it back in the dryer for a while.  My GE and Mother's Maytag have never needed that.

I've always imagined the same, but people kept telling me that wasn't the case.

And for that reason I've always liked the ELux dryers most as they had the lowest temperature ratings tested by reviewed.com.

Not Speed Queen. Sensor dry leaves clothes wet and I have to rotate bulky items. It is a quality piece and I like having a matched set of washer dryer but Speed Queen dryers are nothing special.

I would go with the Whirlpool......

not all dryers are created equal....

one thing that Whirlpool/Kenmores had for years is the 'soft heat' feature.....that has given the best no wrinkle drying of any machine I have ever used....

I favor the Whirlpool machines I have over all others...

I have the dryers to go along with the styling of my Neptunes....the closest results only come from choosing LOW heat....but not an exact match...

1) I work for a competitor company
2) I HATE Whirlpool
3) There`s no dryer better than the Whirlpool (or the spin off brands) mentioned above.
4) And if you don't really care about bells and whistles, get the "El Cheapo" model (usually Amana or Roper)
