But still, they should be competing with the fastest of spin speeds for today, why couldn't they have matched that one Euro washer that tops out at 2,000 RPM? Now, with a tub that size, 2,000 RPM would be a BLAST!!! (Although, that could be quite literally a blast, thus why it's only 1,350! lol)
I also found out that
the machine has a GEL pack that helps balance the spin cycle on top of the shock absorbers! AND that it will learn the floor it is placed on in 4 loads so that it will balance through the critical speed of 600 RPMS and after 4 loads there will be no vibration!! Talk about thinking! OUY!

It has touch to open doors that are reversible. And the control knob can be used in the retracted position so that the front panel is flat OR you can touch that knob and it will extend out off the panel so you can grab it and twist it.
ALSO - the soap door and the under draw are touch to open.

I finaly saw them saturday
I wen to the local Best Buy where they had both sets.The turquoise is more of a teal(disapointing bu pretty none the less)and as convenient as they may have seamed in the pictures,the door openers are like the ones on an entertainment cener's doors that press and pop open.The dryer door opens and shuts easily but the washer door needs some help and can be inconvenient when you have a handfull of dirty laundry.The dispenser tray pops out too but is real cheap plastic.he interior drum light can be turned on during any part of the cycle and is the BRIGHTEST interior light I ever saw in any front loader!he washer works well in drain and spin and is EXREAMLY QUIET! Quitest one I never heard!lol.
The perferated arms are neat and reminded me of the older 60's Westinghouse Multi-Speed rectangular window/slanted front models when they had the black and red arms the latter of which had the "Lint Ejector" nameplate on it.Thirteen hundred rpm spin!
The dryer is awsome.Huge stainless steel interior,drum light as bright as the washer's,REVERSE TUMBLE!!,sensor bars and interesting,perferated arms.
I,m sorry but $1699/ea is way beyond my or anyone else's meens right now!!

I haven't seen one yet. But one of my concerns is being the drum is so large 4.7 - their will probably be a lot of balancing issues when trying to spin. All these big bombs run much to long as it is. These capacity wars are getting ridiculous. I am still wondering if they will produce a combo.
(What ever happened to the simplicity of a westinghouse?)

I saw these yesterday at Lowe's
Impressive machines. They had them hooked up so you could play with the controls. Unfortunately they weren't hooked to a water line so I didn't get to see it wash.
I was impressed with the machine, but I would like to see some repair data before I dropped $1,200 on a washer. All-in-all I liked it as much as the Whirlpool I was leaning towards.
Maybe by the time my TL Maytag finally dies there will be some durability data available.
Speaking of my old Tag--Let us pray she goes for at least two more years.

I too saw the new Electrolux machines at Best Buy. They had the washer plugged in and its impressive. The door ..you touch the round disc and it opens the door on both washer and dryer. The dryer has a plastic inner door..I have a feeling over time that will scratch. The washer has a nice bright light that comes on to illuminate the drum. The controls are kinda neat and the knob retracts. These 2 have alot going for them. The dryer drum leaves me kinda wondering about that wave vane. Its size is huge and it runs the entire length of the drum. The sensor array in the back of the drum is at the bottom as in the pics. There is not much clearance between the vane and back wall of the drum so my thinking is that something could get jammed in there. I am hoping I am wrong but thats a strong possibility it will happen. Its a pinch point.
The dryer drum is HUGE at a whopping 8 cu ft. Its very long so getting to the back of the drum and it doesnt matter if your tall or short...you will have to almost climb into it to get that last sock at the back of the drum.
Still very impressive and at a nice cool $1500 USD a piece...the gas version of the dryer runs $100 USD more.

Oh and before I forget....this is for us Boston area guys....Yale Electric in Boston is giving a set away of these machines on every weekend for the next month or so. I plan on putting my name in so who knows I could win these...they are valued at well over $3,000 together.

Jon I think you have to do it in person. The advert was in the Boston Globe Magazine. Oh and the Best Buy In Saugus at the Square One Mall had them since thats where I saw them. Lowes was rearranging their displays so they were not out. Maybe a different story today since I saw them on Monday 10/29

I read through the owner's guide for this machine. As Thomasortega stated there is no button catcher, or lint screen and it does say to call service if the pump clogs. Other than that I am still impressed with what I see. 18 minute quick wash. 144 minute heavy cycle.

I HATE this cycle.
Guess what.
It doesn´t clean, the rinse is ridiculous and the spin is a disaster.
This is the only negative point (and the button catcher?) in my opinion.

You are right, the button catcher is a stopping point. Same for Whirlcrap for that matter. Bosch, LG, GE, and Samsung have the trapdoor.

I am sure there is one.My Kitchenaid had it.Whirlpool just didn't at the time, nor do they now,want to take the time,money and effort to make a little access door to get to it.If you want,you can inconveniently as hell,take off the base panel and access it yourself.My room mate in Fla.wore bras with metal straps that would ware out and get stuck between the two tubs.The metal would eventually reach the "button catcher in smaller pieces and I'd remove it.Even GE's new machines have it.Hard as Hell to open but it's there!

I wouldn't mind taking off the front pannel. I was told that Whirlpool Duet does have one it's just hard to access. I am not opposed to tearing a machine apart, just wish they would have made something this simple a little easier.
Problem the Whirlpool man was telling me was if you don't think to check it occassionaly, the pump can burn out before you know you have a problem. He said the Duet was notorious for eating baby socks and recommended always using a mesh bag. I noticed the Elux manual stated the same "always use a mesh bag for small items"

I just saw it in sears and somewhat disappointed. I Did Not like the door. First off the latch was cheap and garbage. Second you need to push to pop open the door, which was no big deal. But the door opens all the way and cannot leave ajar to air after the cycle. This was my biggest complaint with the LG.
I also felt the door was not sturdy at all. (Probably subject to leaking). Otherwise the machine seemed ok but I wasnt really that impressed. It seems like the same sos like the others have.

I stuck my head in the tub and it looked like the same size as the Duet and large LG machines. I really didn't "see" any difference. But the dryer is large enough to store a 747 in!
The salesman started off the bat at saying these are the only machines he has that don't have Steam! Like that is now the criteria, is it? Am I out of touch? What does one do with a steam cycle in a washer? I know what to do with a dryer steam cycle for refreshing clohtes but a washer? I am not clear on this but I think he said the dryer does have a steam cycle, anybody know?
So does one use an He Steam detergent??

"Steam is the new Boil Wash", the thinking behind "Steam in the Wash" is that you can use lower wash temperatures but the washers have a small built in steam generator which heats a tiny amount of water to "Steam Temperature" this then is pumped through a jet into the laundry, usually at the top of the drum, and the clothes are tumbled in the steam, so sanitising the clothes, without heating all the water to high temp, also relaxing clothing allowing the dirt to come away quicker....and after spinning, on some models, the steam will relax the fabrics and aid de-creasing!!!
The Electrolux models look very sturdy & stylish, if like Lux Europe these will be a winner!!!

jon,do u remember when you were younger and noticed some of the neighbors had there bedclothes hanging out the upstares windows?Same idea.The steam will relax and refresh the fabrics so you have no need to wash,rinse,spin and dry them just to make them smell fres..Now mind you,if there are some minor stains,they will dissapear too.Twenty minutes and your dress shir and slacks are ready to go out and play!Some of us throw in a dryer sheet or two to make them smell nice.
