Hi Everyone,

Since we had such a good response to the idea of having a meeting in New England, I have decided to host a gathering at my home, in Southboro, Ma, on MARCH 11. This is just a month away so mark your calendars :-)

I am choosing to call it a gathering more than a wash-in due to the fact that I really collect more vintage appliances than just washing machines. I only have two washers that are old!

As time goes on I will post more details such as direction (I'm really easy to find) etc...

What does everyone think about it being pot luck? I know for some of you who travel this may be a problem so not to worry!

I look forward to your enthusiasm and meeting many of you in person so plan on coming for some good food, great conversation/camaraderie all in front of a roaring New England fire....Oh yeah and we will get to play with some vintage appliances.

Please feel free to bring along a prized appliance for show and tell or maybe a few things that you would like to sell or trade or give away!!

Please post as soon as you know that you can make it so that I can start my planning ASAP!

Thanks and I look forward to meeting you all SOON!

Rich, what a generous offer! Sounds great. I have a morning engagement, would it be possible to come in the afternoon?
Wouldn't want to miss it!

possible to come in the afternoon?

Absolutely!!!

I have a feeling that this could go into the evening. This works fine with me :-)

gregm, glad to hear that you can make it!!! Perhaps you can bring over that um...err pink thingy that you just won on that um...err auction site ( I don't dare say it out loud <giggle>) for us to see!!??

Rich

Time??

I'm taking suggestions on when to start things!!!!

I don't care how late it goes. I have already heard that some people from NY as well as NJ are planning on coming so they will most likely be getting a room which means that we will probably be gabbing till the wee hours of the night!! I hope so :-)

I can make suggestions on lodging but I will do that in a separate post. I will try to get prices.

Count Me In!

I have several "prized possessions" in my vacuum collection that I would love to show off too!

Evan

Looking forward to it!!!!!

Rich,

Can't wait for the first of hopefully many get-togethers here in the New England area.

To those who will be attending, I'll be bringing a few vintage goodies for sale or swap (mixers, blenders, vacuum cleaners, etc.). This would be a great time to go through the collection and see if there's anything you might want to weed out. Swaps and sales at these collector get-togethers can be a lot of fun.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Ron

Will do, Bobby. There will be more info as we get closer.

You all may see that I will post a message, to this thread, that will have no content. This will be on purpose. I just want to keep this thread near the top so that we can keep it in everyones thoughts and possibly be seen by any new members comming on board!

10 a.m. sounds good to me, Rich, but I only have a 45-minute ride. Still looking for suggestions from attendees of what they'd be looking for at the "Swap Meet." Just want to get an idea so that I don't bring a lot of stuff that nobody wants. I plan on bringing a few vintage vacuums, blenders, toasters, and a few other goodies.

Any thoughts, guys, would be appreciated.

Ron

In regard to vacuums...

Anything Electrolux. Parts or complete machines. Also anything Hoover, especially Convertables. However, I understand you either may not own or do not wish to trade/sell these. However, if you have anything in particular that YOU would like to sell or trade, please do bring it along. Sometimes I don't realize I need or want something until I see it in person! Is anyone else looking for any particular vacuums or parts? I will see what I have and can bring those items with me.

Evan

Lux Wands

I have a set of aluminum ones in good shape and will bring them with me to the wash-in.

Evan

Looks like I opened the floodgates on this one. Thanks, guys, for the suggestions. It's definitely time to thin out the ranks around here, and it sounds like we'll have a lot of fun doing it. Hopefully, I won't go home with more than I came with.

Ron

I'm so happy!!

It seems that this event is shaping up and the interest is high!!! I can't wait!! Perhaps we should have a name for this event???

I will have some toasters, coffee pots and maybe some vacuum cleaners and other assorted thinks for sale and/or trade, as well!

I think I might just save myself some work and let you all clean um/err test/demonstrate your vacs on my carpets!!! I'm a slow learn so you may have to do a lot of vacuuming before I "get the picture".

Rich

New Name for get-together

First of all, c'mon, Rich, do you think we were born yesterday???? Vacuum your own carpets!!! Although, I have to admit it was a good try.

Anyway, since this isn't really going to be a "wash-in" and it is more a get-together for some people to meet and some people to get re-acquainted, etc., etc., what better name for this than -- Are you ready for this??? --- THE DOWNY "BALL."

Okay, guys, what do you think????
