Automatic Griddle

Wouldn't be nice to have opened the left storage drawer and the automatic griddle was sitting there pretty as can be?

Wow!

That's my all time favorite stove and my all time favorite appliance color. One of my aunts had one in white.

Have fun with it and thanks for sharing!

Griddle

Had this stove growing up(in white).......Hotpoint....with the griddle. It was a HEAVY griddle that plugged in to the back. Used the griddle all the time for bacon or grilled cheese sandwiches. Also, the left burner dropped down so it would make a well.....kind of nice for deep frying.
The pushbuttons lit up different colors. There was a large oven and a small oven.
It was great for its time.

Griddle confusion!

Suddenly it all becomes clear...

I was wondering why the griddle would connect over the two left burners rather than over at the right on the "blank" part. I have a '54 Hotpoint commercial showing their griddle which plugs in at the right, and made the Hotpoint-->GE leap.

This morning, I read the page in the manual (I have a bigger monitor at work than at home...). Looks like the "plug" for the griddle is thermostatic only and the heat comes from the actual burners. This is unlike the Hotpoint which has its own heating element and thermostatic control ("This looks like the answer to Jim's Sunday morning breakfast of pancakes!")

Now I can sleep well.

Automatic griddle

I think I get it, it uses the Sensi-Temp of the front unit to control BOTH units when the griddle is plugged in

GE Automatic Griddle

OK, so here's how it works:
