Frigidaire FL!!

I really have not read over the manual throughly but it would be great to be able to get more water in these machines. I hope it will be a substancial amount more and not just another drop or 2.

Lets hope it's not like the LG's waterplus cuz I hear that uses very little extra water. I like the way MAX FILL sounds, let's hope it's really MAX FILL and not just another cup of water

Eugene, you need to just succumb to the little voices in your head and the little men on your shoulders seductively calling on you to go ahead and call your local dealer. Make their day. Make their June month sales figures improve.

Bob---I looked over my finances, which was more than enough to kill my 'new washer fever'. It would simply be stupid for me to go into debt $2500 (need those pedestals, of course!) when I have two washers in perfect operating condition.

Oh well...it was fun while it lasted, LOL. I'll be in much better financial shape in a couple of years (knock on wood). Gotta keep my eye on the prize, as they say.

Water usage

According to the Energy Star ratings, Model 4474 has a tub volume of 3.81 cubic feet and a water factor of 2.9 giving a water use per load of 11.05 gallons.
It is 155% more efficient than the federal standard (MEF) meaning it uses much less water.
One of the most efficient machines to date.....
It uses too little water--hope the max fill really works.

Three models, tested in 5/2010, with model numbers ending in 4272, 4473, and 4474 are listed having a tub volume of 3.81 cu ft. I think that Energy Star ratings are more conservative than the mfg. ratings....

The manual also shows that some models are capable of a profile wash, which I assume mean heats to a set temp from Cold.

The Stain treat button fills will cold water to treat protein stains and then heats to remove non protein stains and may add over 30 minutes to the wash time.

If that is true are there any other US machines excluding Bosch that'll do that?

I read a manual for the top-of-the-line model by LG and I'm pretty sure it does a profile wash. Of course neither Bosch nor LG are American machines, really.

Mark---I wouldn't get too excited about the MAX FILL option. My top-loading 2006 Frigidaire labels its highest water level SUPER, and it fills only to the third row of holes down from the top of the tub; in other words, medium.

Capacity Differences

The energy star website advertises the Frigidaire's drum capacity in cubic feet based on the DOE standard, while manufacturers use the IEC standard, which just inflates the size of the drum because it takes into account the size of the drum with an agitator, which is about .4 - .5 cubic feet. So a 3.9 cu ft front loader would be equivalent to a 4.4 cu ft top loader with an agitator. Basically, both should hold the same volume of clothes.

Don't things always look bigger in the mirror????
