This may perhaps be a preview to a new top-loader series comming from Electrolux to compete with Oasis/Fisher-Paykels.
Spin rinses are replacing full rinses to save water.

i wonder if this washer actually cleans well... CR claims it was "good" for washing but "poor" for gentleness! i dont know it looks interesting though.

Did y'all notice the see-thru inner lid that closed before the outer lid? I'll bet it is to keep all of the splashing contained since there is a gap between the tub and the top of the machine.

I wonder how badly it tangles?

You can believe this or not, but when I was 5 or 6, I would watch the Bendix washers with the slide lever to open the door at the dry cleaners/laundry where we used to take cleaning. I would look in the tub of an empty machine and imagine a top loading vertical axis washer with a tub like the Bendix with 4 vanes, but in the center where that big bearing bump is, I imagined a stationary agitator. The tub whirled back and forth, full of water, carrying the clothes while the fixed agitator kept them from balling up and gave something for the laundry to dash against to force water through the clothes. I did not imagine anything more than spray rinses whle spinning and the agitated deep rinse, but laundry technology is catching up with my imagination 50 years ago. It would be neat if the little Haier I have had some big vanes in the tub wall.

The closest domestic manufacturers have come to putting vanes on the outter tub walls, is the x-tra action tubs of GE washers. I also noticed the washplate is more concave than convex as in a typical pulsator wash plate.
I also noticed the inner splash lid.
I guess the top loader has gotten a reprive from death row at least for the foreseable future.

If they are beggining to use spray rinses instead of deep rinses does that mean we will go around WEARING detergent? I heard that spray rinses are not as effective as deep rinses.

To me it depends on the "way" how spray rinses are processed.
The spray-rinse in my SpeedQueen TL isn't very effective but the two or three spray-rinses in my Hotpoint TwinTub Supermatic de luxe T9414 do a very good job. Same as in the Hoovermatic TwinTub 3301L and in my AEG Lavalux TwinTub where the spin-rinse process is done in the seperate spinner.

This machine is sold in Australia under a different name than Genesis it is called the Haier double drive HWM90DD,it was tested in this month's Choice magazine which is our leading consumer magazine here are the scores it achieved:
1.Overall score-69%
2.Dirt removal score-85%
3.Rinse performance score-51%
4.Gentleness score-53%
5.Spin efficiency score-62%
6.Water efficiency score-72%.
So it would appear that this one is good at cleaning,has good water efficiency, but is only so-so at rinsing and being gentle on the clothes,personally not a model I would consider, particularly as it costs around $1500.00 to buy down here, although Haier do give a comprehensive 10 year warranty on it(most likely the reason it costs so much).

While these look interesting and would be great fun to watch, I'd still opt for a front-loader as my daily driver. It seems, as a group, FL'ers are still gentler on fabrics, clean very well, have fewer tangling issues, and use less water than these new HE top-loaders.
