I really wish that one of the manufacturers would take the retro styling of today's POD (July 30, Bendix FL) and put a modern washer inside. There could be two touch screens where the dials are...it would be a nice "modern retro" machine.

You can buy retro designed stoves and refrigerators...why not washers and dryers?
 
Ferrari dishwasher, baby!

Too bad on this side of the pond there's nothing that can go from zero to clean in 2.3 seconds like that red rod can! Wow-- I SO need that! (even if it's an HE-takes-all-night-for-one-load, it still looks cool!) I can picture the dialog at a party: "so we just got a new bla bla boring dishwasher in stainless.."
"yeah? Mines Corvette red!"

Dead silence as the image registers: PRICELESS!
 
These exist since years in Italy (being Smeg an Italian brand) but anyway you can see they're "fake" from 100 mile, and then I mean they're all shaped like a refrigerator! I never seen a dishwaher shaped in that way, without mentioning a washer or a dryer!
Oviosuly their refrigerators are nice from outside but inside is all about plastic!
And then I mean front loaders.... Yuck! So you would renunce to clean clothes just for these fake covers? -.-

And then Smeg today makes all the stuff in China or with chinese parts!

Naaaah! I think are an horrible and very sad attempt to emulate the real retro!
Anyway for who is still interested in these obscenities they also produce some models of washers with a n built-in sink, here some pics

Yep-- now that i've seen one, it kinda looks like Fisher-Price stuff (kids toys)!
Too bad: a great idea got sidetracked to the way of the Cheap Junk. Too many things like that nowadays...
