Yesterday,my new hometown, honoka'a,had the main street shut down for a review of a new Japanese movie called "Honoka'a Boy".I had been asked to help clean up 5 of our differen duites available but in need of some major cleaning and mopping. I as well as 3 others took care and made everything sparkle. The crew stayed here and we were all invited to the premier and parties before and after. The movie is based on Japanise boy who befriends an elderly woman a widow for 50 years. She is a baker and makes these fabulous doughnuts popular to both natives and tourists. They become good friends and he delivers her flour and she cooks for him.Lots of things happen between them and they both are hoping to see a lunar rainbow seen only here in Honoca'a.In the meentime, she comes down with an illness losing her sight but still makes her food using her memorie. She finaly dies but the people still make the doughnuts she was popular for. You'd have to see it to realy get the drift but I must say that it was one of the best movies i have seen in quite a while and will show first in Japan and be released to show in the U.S pending it's success in Japan. When I lived in Baltimore, the Charles Theater showed this type of film on a regular basis. The cast and crew stayed here the weekend and were lots of fun. We played pool and cards and some went to YPO valley and went scubgh through the (tubes"which are tunnels formed from molten lava underwater.I recomend to anybody here who goes to see it take a handkerchef. It is a true tear jerker!
