Recently, i've noticed our new kenmore dishwasher only does 1 rinse after the main wash and goes to the drying phase after that. I swear it did 2 rinses before on the normal wash cycle. On the 1 hour wash it will do 2. Heres what i've noticed on the normal wash >Pre wash 1 > Drain >Prewash 2 > Drain >Main wash >Drain >Rinse >Drain> Dry >Done. Should this be happening? Our model is the BOL Kenmore 15113

Does your machine have a soil sensor?

If so, maybe the sensor is saying you only need one rinse.  I know my Maytag would skip a rinse, and would also jump from pre-rinse to main wash without a refill if the soil level was low.  I never paid attention how the Kitchenaid handles different soil levels.

Sounds about right for that design. I'm actually surprised it does two prewashes on a Normal Cycle. All Whirlpool built dishwashers since the Voyager platform would start with the Main Wash, unless the sensor decided the water was so cloudy that it needed a drain and refill, and even then only one prewash was the max on the Normal cycle. One rinse is typical as well, with only a purge between the MW and rinse.

I agree with appnut; just use the highest/longest cycle.

I don't have one but I would prefer 1 pre-wash and take that 2nd pre-wash and make it a second after rinse - same amount of water right?

How long are each of the 2 pre-washes?
