New Kitchen

A really great stunning job done there Chris

I just love looking at makeover pictures like this, just one question have you got a cupboard door missing from the corner base unit or is meant to look like that.

Stunning new kitchen!!!

I love your new washer, I have been lusting after those in John Lewis! Not that the Miele is getting replaced any time soon but if it were I'd probably choose the Siemens as we are open plan too, certainly seems to be one of the quietest washers you can buy here. Thanks for your comments!

Ref the cupboard door....strangely the fitters forgot to put it on! But it's been added now so there isn't a gap - it would have looked rubbish otherwise! Took that main picture before it was 100% complete. Call me impatient!

I did look at Miele but I felt the Siemens one looked far better - or rather was more in keeping with the look I wanted.

Not looked back!

Hi Chris.

Lovely kitchen with a very smart set of appliances!

Went to play, for half an hour or so, in the local Euronics store in Derby. Was interested to hear how quiet/noisy these siemens are, so I plonked one on the spin cycle and stood back. Suffice to say, I was impressed and they might be a contender for here, when the time comes.

Chris-

Love the remodel on your kitchen. It looks absolutely fantastic. All the sleek lines of everything is phenomenal.

One question about the clothes washer. You mentioned that it has the drum light in it. Is that for just when you have the machine opened to see into the drum or does the drum light also turn on while the machine is running so you can better see into it?

The reflections in #'s 11 & 15 are very sexy.

I'm waiting to hear back on a bid I made on a new home. This kitchen is similar to what I'd like to have one day. What's the floor made of? I really like it.

What's that on the wall behind the hob/cook-top and below the Neff exhaust fan, a back splash? Looks nice, whatever it is.

Just a thought... You'll probably be mobbed with members asking what kind/who made/where'd you buy it/etc. Maybe you should assemble a list of the materials and post it?

Thanks for posting,

Jim

Nice looking kitchen - love the look of the appliances. The only thing I don't like is on the cook top and the oven controls there are only symbols and no words...if one is not familiar with the units how would you know how to operate it?

Oh and nice slippers too :-)

replies....

@matchboxpaul ¡V thank you very much! It is genuinely very quiet, even the pump is quiet too! When it is washing I would not hasten to say you cannot hear it. Not even the water sloshing about. When it comes on to spin, it hums very quietly, which does get slightly louder as it increases right up to 1400 rpm (the final spin section is 15 minutes long). The silence was important as it is all open plan.

@imperial70 ¡V thanks very much. I am very pleased with it. It is very difficulty to keep shiny though!!

@washdaddy ¡V the drum light comes on when you power the machine up, and it stays on as you are loading it. Once you start the cycle, it stays on for about 30 seconds, which is pretty cool to watch as the water starts to enter the machine. If you pause the cycle while it is running, then press start again, the light comes back on, which can be fun too! Then, once the cycle is over, the light comes up to aid you unloading it. It is very bright, I suspect it is a halogen bulb of some sort.

@alude ¡V nope, not from Ikea. I had a local kitchen company measure the space and make me a kitchen from their range. I like to support small business where I can, although slightly more expensive, their service was second to none.

@zipdang ¡V glad you like! ƒº

@warmsecondrinse ¡V thanks very much for your comments! Behind the hob is a glass splash back that I had made for the kitchen. I didn¡¦t want tiles as they didn¡¦t quite fit with the vision I had for clean lines, and I don¡¦t think they always look modern.

@countryguy ¡V thank you. I agree that the hob is difficult to use if you don¡¦t have the manual! I had to refer to it on the first few occasions I was using it. It¡¦s touch sensitive, and very easy to u se once you ¡§know how¡¨. The oven, I think, is very straightforward without any instructions and I think lots of text and symbols over it would spoil the design. I guess it¡¦s personal preference!

Ha! The slippers! They were an XMAS present!

Hi Chris, it looks stunning, love everything about it. The washing machine is fantastic. The Down wear programme interested me, is it only on the Bristol machines for clothes worn up the Downs 😉. Once you've used a decent induction hob you never go back to anything else.

Showroom

Bears repeating - it does look like a showroom - like the Home Depot EXPO stores that were once around here in the states.

The other side of my tastes are stated here -always loved modern and sleek, but it's not always tastefully done. There's textures, lines, and appliances...which your decorator helped with, but you picked out.

It's really a nice looking place - just needs a little green plant somewhere to remind us we're on earth. :-)

Nice photos.

Phil

@ganksy1 - much appreciated, thank you!

@richukbristol - ha, yes, the downs cycle….it has an intensive setting too ;-)

@ovrphil - I'll go plant shopping this weekend, promise!!

@chestermike - thanks very much! deffo induction. I love it! The maytags - sold them on ebay in the end. Lovely, solid machines, but far too noisy for the open plan area I have created (in the previous design the washer was in a kitchen, which was a room on its own - I had that wall knocked down, meaning it wasn't practical to have it any more

@hene4 - it does include a pre-wash as standard, with high water levels throughout each stage of the cycle. YOu can add a pre-wash to any programme by pressing the button asking for one.

Induction...

Everyone raves about induction. I'm sure I'll fall in love with it when I finally get a chance to use it.

The only thing is that I've experienced enough prolonged power failures in my life. even if it's just back-up and rarely used, I want 2 gas burners, a gas oven I can light w/a match, a gas hot water heater, and way to turn on the steam boiler.

I don't mind chopping wood, hauling water, or living/working by candle light; I've been there and done that. However, I MUST have my hot shower and coffee in the morning.

Love your new kitchen and the upper cabinet doors are very nice.

How much heat and humidty does that condensor dryer exhaust into the room? That would be a concern here in the summer.. perhaps a bonus in the winter.
