@matchboxpaul ¡V thank you very much! It is genuinely very quiet, even the pump is quiet too! When it is washing I would not hasten to say you cannot hear it. Not even the water sloshing about. When it comes on to spin, it hums very quietly, which does get slightly louder as it increases right up to 1400 rpm (the final spin section is 15 minutes long). The silence was important as it is all open plan.

@imperial70 ¡V thanks very much. I am very pleased with it. It is very difficulty to keep shiny though!!

@washdaddy ¡V the drum light comes on when you power the machine up, and it stays on as you are loading it. Once you start the cycle, it stays on for about 30 seconds, which is pretty cool to watch as the water starts to enter the machine. If you pause the cycle while it is running, then press start again, the light comes back on, which can be fun too! Then, once the cycle is over, the light comes up to aid you unloading it. It is very bright, I suspect it is a halogen bulb of some sort.

@alude ¡V nope, not from Ikea. I had a local kitchen company measure the space and make me a kitchen from their range. I like to support small business where I can, although slightly more expensive, their service was second to none.

@zipdang ¡V glad you like! ƒº

@warmsecondrinse ¡V thanks very much for your comments! Behind the hob is a glass splash back that I had made for the kitchen. I didn¡¦t want tiles as they didn¡¦t quite fit with the vision I had for clean lines, and I don¡¦t think they always look modern.

@countryguy ¡V thank you. I agree that the hob is difficult to use if you don¡¦t have the manual! I had to refer to it on the first few occasions I was using it. It¡¦s touch sensitive, and very easy to u se once you ¡§know how¡¨. The oven, I think, is very straightforward without any instructions and I think lots of text and symbols over it would spoil the design. I guess it¡¦s personal preference!

Ha! The slippers! They were an XMAS present!

Hi Chris, it looks stunning, love everything about it. The washing machine is fantastic. The Down wear programme interested me, is it only on the Bristol machines for clothes worn up the Downs 😉. Once you've used a decent induction hob you never go back to anything else.

Showroom

Bears repeating - it does look like a showroom - like the Home Depot EXPO stores that were once around here in the states.

The other side of my tastes are stated here -always loved modern and sleek, but it's not always tastefully done. There's textures, lines, and appliances...which your decorator helped with, but you picked out.

It's really a nice looking place - just needs a little green plant somewhere to remind us we're on earth. :-)

Nice photos.

Phil

@ganksy1 - much appreciated, thank you!

@richukbristol - ha, yes, the downs cycle….it has an intensive setting too ;-)

@ovrphil - I'll go plant shopping this weekend, promise!!

@chestermike - thanks very much! deffo induction. I love it! The maytags - sold them on ebay in the end. Lovely, solid machines, but far too noisy for the open plan area I have created (in the previous design the washer was in a kitchen, which was a room on its own - I had that wall knocked down, meaning it wasn't practical to have it any more

@hene4 - it does include a pre-wash as standard, with high water levels throughout each stage of the cycle. YOu can add a pre-wash to any programme by pressing the button asking for one.

Induction...

Everyone raves about induction. I'm sure I'll fall in love with it when I finally get a chance to use it.

The only thing is that I've experienced enough prolonged power failures in my life. even if it's just back-up and rarely used, I want 2 gas burners, a gas oven I can light w/a match, a gas hot water heater, and way to turn on the steam boiler.

I don't mind chopping wood, hauling water, or living/working by candle light; I've been there and done that. However, I MUST have my hot shower and coffee in the morning.

Love your new kitchen and the upper cabinet doors are very nice.

How much heat and humidty does that condensor dryer exhaust into the room? That would be a concern here in the summer.. perhaps a bonus in the winter.

@petek - not much seems to "leak" out humidity wise, and as for heat, there is far less from this than my previous Maytag (asko) dryer. Not had it for a summer yet, so may be different then

@mark & @joe - thanks very much guys - really appreciate it

Oh, those Siemens dryers get pretty hot. The thermostat cuts off when the temp reaches 70 to 75C on a normal cycle before it reaches Iron Dry, at which point the max. temp is reduced by 10C

The reason you don't feel much hot air coming from it is because it releases it through mainly the back panel and every other nook and cranny there is. Remove the water tank and you can feel quite a bit of hot air blowing out of the opening.

Very nice kitchen. So what if it looks like a showroom, which I don't think it does.
Like your cooktop and all of the rest of the appliances.

The cabinets are they wood or metal?

Kitchen is nicely done with lots of room in a small space that leads to a living area - just Great!
