I was in best buy today to get a dvd. I went over to the appliances to check out if anything new had come out.

Well to my surprise i saw the new lg dw's. Very nice i must say. There were only two models on display. Shiny SS interiors and the racks seem very durable.

No heating elements and the machines dry by way of condensation and a blower fan. Sorry i didn't get the model numbers. Will have to look on LG's site for them.

I was trying to see if i could recognize who the manufacturer is. It looks like it is their own design. One good thing, there's much more choice now in appliances than several years ago.

Lets hope the diskwashers are better than the ones we get fr

The LG dishwashers we get over here look entirely different, and I havent had a good experience with them yet.

Work has four of them, they're very noisey, Especially when filling, and the food scraps dont end up in the filter, just all over the bottom of the dishwasher, and they have to be scooped out. The racks in the ones we get over here are now better than the first generation machines we had, but still not what I'd call robust.

A friend of mine has also had the control panel catch fire.

I'd wait and see some reviews before rushing to get one.

new lg dishwashers

I saw the owners manual online for these new dishwashers on the LG websight. The cycle times are extremly to long.
I personally do not see any advantage to that.

RE: LG cycle times

Like washer, like dishwasher. Think the LGs' are cool anyway. Anybody else have an experience with LGs? Suppose I could log on to Epinions.

David, this dishwasher just hit the U.S. market. I've not seen anything on epinions either. It uses the alternating top & bottom spray like Frigidaire. This one has intensity (speed) options.

Which Dishwasher to buy, Oh my!

I just bought a new house and the first thing to get replaced will be the dishwasher. There is an older TOL Kenmore (rebadged GE) dishwasher in the house. It has the tower spray that comes up through the bottom of the rack which will annoy the heck out of me in no time at all.

I have been a Kitchen Aid fan for years and years. However, I put a Bosch in this house which I've used for 3 years and also really love. Now I see there are Siemens (looks like Bosch to me) and LG (from what I can tell this looks an awful lot like the Bosch as well) dishwashers. I just can't decide which I should buy. Does anyone have any experience with the Siemens or LG dishwashers?

I really like the rack designs in the new Kitchen Aid dishwashers but like the look and the quietness of the Bosch! My sister has a new Kitchen Aid which she likes but I think it's noisy compared to the Bosch.

LG dishwashers

The LG dishwashers are going to be as popular if not more than their laundry counterparts. They are extramly quiet and they have the OPTION of doing a half load on the upper or lower rack or wash both at the same time unlike the Electroluxes which operate intermediately of one another. They are a bit pricey but they DO (unlike all other imported brands)come equipped with a built in hard food disposer and the heating element(s) for drying and boosting the water temperature are completely hidden. The stainless steel finish inside and out is the nicest and shinyest I have ever seen on any domestic dishwasher!

Thanks Chuck for more on the LGs. The Siemens ARE Bosch dishwasher, from the same company. It's just that Best Buy sells them. It will be interesting to see how the Siemens branded ones will be marketed at Best Buy when the new models come out in June that are two different fronts with 3 different levels of features/options.

Thank you!

Thanks for the information. Perhaps I should wait until some time after June to see what the new Siemens look like. I haven't seen an LG dishwasher up close. I will have to check them out. I see they are on the Best Buy website, but I'll have to check to see if they are carrying them at our local Best Buy.

self-cleaning filter on LG?

Does anyone know if the LG dishwasher has a self cleaning filtration system? If I am remembering correctly, both have a filter you need to clean by hand.

Personally I think a dishwasher that can't dispose of its own wastes isn't doing its job. Every drop of wash and rinse water is being filtered through garbage, which continues to lay in the bottom of the machine until you clean it out.

Give me a U.S. made dishwasher anyday, with a hard food waste disposer that can gobble up most anything you can put in it. This is a true dishwasher, not just a machine that splashes water on dishes.

The energy efficiency of most European machines seems quite impressive at first glance; however, when you take into account the water used to wash your dishes off by hand before putting them into the machine, I bet the acutal efficiency is less than most U.S. machines which can take dishes straight from the table.

LG Dishwashers

YES.LG dishwashers DO have a built in disposer unlike all other imported dishwashers from europe, Asia, and New Zealand. There is no need to clean any filter ever and the interior as well as the exterior stainless steel finish is unremarkable. The average cycle uses about 5 gallons of hot water.I don't remember how many decibles their noise level is but it's so silent that none of your guests would know it was on if they went into your kitchen to get a drink.Yes the Bosches may be quiet and look great but their frequency of repair record (according to the Consumer's Union Consumer Reports Magazine)is the very worst of all brands made.

Bosch worst?

I thought that honour belonged to Asko. Sales must have been hurt by their poor CR review because the two stores that sold them here in town no longer carry them.
I took a look at the new LG's the other day alongside the Bosch and they are very similar down to the control button and their layout as well as the lower washarm. All that set them apart inside was the placement of the detergent cups, not counting the racks.
