Frigidaire's washer brochure used to depict various configurations (side by side, stacked, under counter, etc) for their washers. One option was two washers below, two dryers above. Obviously aimed at large families, but I think this kind of double configuration would be more useful than the LG, in particular because Frigidaires' machines were 27W x 27H x 36H. Parent company Electrolux's machines are taller, 38H, but still could be stacked. I think the double capacity issue was more relevant ten years ago, when 3.5 cu ft was "large".
