The French stove+dishwasher combi
A friend of mine moved to Paris 16 years ago and told me about his stove/oven/dishwasher combo that required water, electrical, drain AND a gas connection (due to the gas cooktop) all to the one appliance!!! He said it was a challenge (and a little scary) to get all connected and make sure it was leak free.

The dispenser on the WM9500H is a top loading affair and the dryer that goes along with the 5.8 cu.ft. washer is 9 cu.ft.

I have to give to it LG and Samsung for inventions. They are really offereing exciting inventions that NO ONE else is topping. Perhaps it would be great if Whirlpool would come up with something different. They don't though.
Although everyone talks about the horror stories of the machines that LG and Samsung make, I truly think it is a very small margin in the scale of how MANY Machines they sell worldwide. In fact...my brother bought the original LG front load washer and dryer that was offerd at Best Buys back when. They love it. It has never let them down. Both the washer and dryer run like a champ. Everything original.

Tom, I think you've stumbled on a money-making idea: Make a pedestal drawer with a toddler's potty in it! The high-end version could have a flush-n-drain feature.

Diaper Pail / Potty Trainer
It can start out as a diaper pail. Drop the soiled diapers in, push the cycle button labeled #2, and come back to clean diapers.
Then, as the baby grows out of diapers, it can be used as a potty trainer. The heater can be used to warm the seat so it is more comfortable to potty train in the winter.
Afterwards, it can be moved to the kitchen and used as a salad spinner...

Great, Malcolm! Although...I might opt for 'potter's wheel' rather than salad spinner once the tyke is out of diapers, LOL.
While I don't see the mini washer being useful for me, I'm impressed with the front-loader sitting above it. Like the top-loading dispenser system and the controls on the door. The people I've steered to LG front-loaders the past couple of years really like them; and so far, no problems.
As mentioned earlier, these big LG models are too large to fit through the doorway to my laundry room. Were I in the market for a new front-loading pair, I'd probably opt for a higher-end Maytag. 4.5 cu. ft tub, great cycle and option flexibility, and it fits through all the doorways.[this post was last edited: 1/7/2015-08:58]

Frigidaire's washer brochure used to depict various configurations (side by side, stacked, under counter, etc) for their washers. One option was two washers below, two dryers above. Obviously aimed at large families, but I think this kind of double configuration would be more useful than the LG, in particular because Frigidaires' machines were 27W x 27H x 36H. Parent company Electrolux's machines are taller, 38H, but still could be stacked. I think the double capacity issue was more relevant ten years ago, when 3.5 cu ft was "large".

Lid Open?
If you could get it to operate with the lid opened, it could double as one of them there fancy turlets that washes you up afterwards.
Doesn't Electrolux offer a wall mounted washer hanging over a toilet already?
I guess this isn't really ground breaking after all.

Am I the only one thinking that it has a one piece tub? I mean, like the Frigidaire TLs. At least, it rather looks like this.

I will say that I do like the top loading dispensers.
Wish more manufacturers did that.
But I guess stacking is not an option with these.

The issues with "exploding washers"was limited. Not every model was faulty. I bought one set for my cousin,Kathy in Maryland back in 2011. She loves it so much that she bought another.pair for her summer home. I don't know where the misinformation originated but LGs track record in repairs is far better then Whirlpool,Kenmore, Speed Queen and GE. Easy to operate and quiet. Samsung not as dependable and service on Samsung is bad here. Not.one service company wants them as a regular. Reminds me of the hell I went through with Equator.

But saying they are better than SQ: No. Simply no. They are more rugged and have a longer planned live span.
They had and have their problems (belts and timers), but by far the average lifespan of SQ is longer than LG. (We see that LGs usually die after 6-10 years. And you had your good part of problems as well, laundromat.)
