Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The Food tech room in my high school had a 1400spin Whirlpool washing machine and a Bosch WTA2000 tumble dryer as above. In the PE department they had 2 huge tumble dryers like launderette ones, a top load washer made of steel and a pedal operated spin dryer. (They all looked pretty old.)

askomiele, it is not uncommon in the UK to see a dryer made by Crosslee under a variety of names, the most popular of which are White Knight, Philips, Zanussi and Carlton. I believe the Philips branded dryers were the first. The interal design has remained pretty much unchanged since the late 1970's and they remain one of the UK's only domestic products to still be made here.

As far as Bauknecht-made-Whirlpool dryers go, I don't think I've ever seen one of those here. Whirlpool seem to be a slightly odd company. In the early 90's, the Whirlpool Aqualine was a very popular, relatively high performing and reliable machine - I know of a few of these still in use. However, the Philips-Whirlpool washer/dryer than ran alongside it was Merloni made and an attrotious, complete waste of a machine, so I'm not entirely sure who actually made and owned what names.

All the Whirlpool dryers I have seen were all branded Philips-Whirlpool and made by Crosslee.

Yes, they also did a gas version of the Crosslee, the only domestic gas dryers I've seen.

My new beauty

My new Hoover SE220. Dates from 1999 and cost me £10 off Gumtree. It needs a new seal as the current one is very mouldy! The only fault is that the power button needs pushing in to get it to work. It's not plumbed in yet, just in the hall in situ for the moment. Does anyone know how to get it to work without it needing pushing in all the time? Thanks in advance...

Hoover SE220

What a beauty!Congratulations mate, glad you have it and not me. I think that the front is welded on to the front of the machine, but hopefully you can work around that. Can't wait to see it in its glory when I see you soon!

Chris

Wow! Odd coinvidence as im saving for a hoover dynamic to replace that dodgy hottie (hv6l105p)

Anyway, you could try putting a strip of tape that has a cork on it infront of the power button and it should stay in, well, it works for the servis easidryer lol
