I am sure many of you have seen the larger capacity, 3.8cu drum I believe, Neptunes with a glass door, FINALLY ......... so has Maytag resolved the issues from the past, like water collecting in the boot and mold issues ? the computer board becoming fried issues ?? etc. ?? How do these compare to the "duets" and others ?? Anyone have thoughts / experience ? I know this may be redundant whereas this subject may have been touched upon in another way in other postings.

Those new Neptunes are made by Samsung in Korea, with a few Maytag touches. Went to a Maytag service seminar last week. They are still making the regular Neptune at a lower price, and may, at some point, offer them under the Amana label. The new Neptune (made by Samsung) are pretty much like the Duet. Take the front panel off and they look pretty much the same.
There is just one model now ($1200.00 price point). Later in the year they will introduce 2 less expensive models, one of which will be stackable.

front loaders are pretty expensive these days vs. there top-load counterparts ......... I wonder as time goes on if front loaders will go down in price and/or more brands will introduce such increasing competition amongst different brands

High cost is prolly related to R&A, and being new to market for most of these new American Fl'ers. Remember where Maytag's Neptunes were at introduction? Same thing for the FriGeMore's, which all went down in price as time went on.
What is hurting appliance makers now is the high cost of steel, much of it blamed on the tariffs Bush imposed and extended.
Top loaders are pretty easy machines to make/design, and are rapidly becoming mostly plastic parts in a thin metal case. Front loaders OTOH are a different beast and need sturdier construction.
Front loaders are bound to come down in price as the new models "trickle" down. Only Miele refuses to play ball, don't think I've ever seen a Miele laundry appliance on "sale" or for vastly lower than whatever price Miele tells the dealers suggested price.
