Hi, I'm new here but I have been reading this forum for the last eight years or so and thought I might as well join in.

I have loved washing machines for as long as I can remember and people have always told me that I must be the only person on earth to have such an interest, so I couldn't believe my luck to find this place.

The machine that started my obsession was a Creda Supaspeed L, model no.17011, a machine that I have never seen anywhere else and I don't think it has ever been mentioned on here so I'm interested to see if anyone knows it. The machine was in use up until 2004 but I do still have it. I would post a photo of it but my camera is playing up at the moment.

The Tumble Dryer I grew up with was a Philips D153, which is still in use today with no problems so far.

The Creda was replaced by a Hotpoint WMA58, a machine which I neither love or hate. I chose it believing that the quality would be the same as previous Hotpoint machines, how wrong I was.

I also have a Hotpoint Supermatic 9400 twin tub which I bought second hand in 2002. I've also got a Creda Debonair Autopump spin dryer MODEL NO.37067 which I inherited in 1999 and finally in 2009 I bought a second hand Hotpoint WM64 which I love, although it hasn't come without its problems. I have always loved that range of Hotpoint machines, I know they're not popular with everyone but they'll always be special to me.

This is the first time I have ever contributed to anything online so apologies if I have done anything wrong.

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome.

I thought it was about time I introduced myself after all the years I've been coming here. It's nice to be able to talk to like minded people for a change.

I have often been in need of advice and had nobody to ask that actually knows what I'm talking about, so hopefully in future I can come here for help. I'll try not to bother you all too much though.

This forum has kept me entertained for many hours over the years. I also recognise a lot of you from youtube. I'm not on there myself but I have seen some great videos from you all.

Tom - Yes another Welshman! It's nice to know that there's someone else not too far away from me.

If I recall correctly, your Creda is one of the ones made by Hotpoint so there will no doubt have been discussions about very similar Hotpoint or Electra versions. The WM64 is a good machine, especially if it has the later type motor fitted.

Hi,

jetcone, Darren: Thanks for the welcome!

fido: I didn't realise that Hotpoint made my Creda. As for the WM64, I also think its a good machine. I find it washes much better than my WMA58 and its certainly built better. My machine has the original motor fitted to it and I love the sound of it. I don't think I'll ever get bored of it.

Hi,

optima: I thought so, thanks for confirming that.

robliverpool: One of my biggest issues with the WMA58 is the fact that it always seems to spin unbalanced. I have lost count of the number of times the drum has hit and scratched the door glass. Almost every spin causes the drum to bang and I've now noticed that it leaks a small amount of water from underneath on a very unbalanced spin. I'm not sure how as it doesn't leak when washing and rinsing. I've always thought that this machine is a bit cheap, however, it has never broken down and it has had a lot of use.

Robert.
