Michael, the "crown" as you call it, is a one timer increment for the spray rinse. There is like one minute or two minutes of more spinning after that. Then the increment which stops spin (I think I remember that right) then it starts filling and after one increment then the timer turns off until water level switch has been satisfied.

Nice set you have their Jimmy, nice and simple but Maytag quality through and through. They will just go about their duty quietly and non complaining. I noticed that the cord for powering the washer comes out by the water inlet hoses. How odd that Maytag would do that(god forbid you open the lid and see what is going on inside HA HA) you would think that Maytag would have had the power cord away from water as power and water don't mix. But I guess it all worked out ok. The HOH dryer may be a bit slow (4800 watts ??)on drying but what the heck, everything else today goes by too darn fast anyway. Enjoy them!

Hi Steve and Doug, I knew you guys would like this set! They sure are solid Maytag quality. The first thing I did when I got the washer was to bypass the lid switch so I could see all the dramatic Maytag wash action! In a similar fashion to the dryer, this washer is exceptionally quiet. Got to love that silent tub brake on the washer! No loud bang or clunk like the GE's or Norge's...... When you see a set like this you realize the criminality of modern "Maytags" and other modern washers......and you realize there is no substitue for quality....

Hi Jimmy nice set. Isnt it amazing how well those things are made and how long they've lasted? We will never again have things made that way again in our "Throw Away" Society. It amazes me at times what shows up here in the group you really never know whats lurking in someones basement..or garage..or old shed. Congrats on the find!

Best Maytag agitator IMHO

Whoever told me that this generation of Maytag agitators rocked was so right. The action on those things with the water surging out of the bottom makes me wonder why they ever switched to the Power-fin agitator. Those flexible fins don't hold a candle to this thing.
