I think the formula for that show for Regis Philbin is: Surround yourself with a young sparky tart who may look stupid, but makes you look like a good looking protective smart Daddy to correct her, coddel her and come out looking like he is in control.
The last girl was a little fiesty for Regis, did not play the Daddy/Slave role too well. She was a Jew who turned Christian right after she learned how much money her goy husband would earn in the NFL. Now she sings Christian music. A Shonda, this Gifford woman is.

Regis and Kelly and Mark...

Apparently Kelly puts up with Mark very well, since they met on the set of an ABC-TV soap opera (I think it was "General Hospital" but am not sure), fell in love and got married both on the soap and in real life...

BTW, pturo, Kathie Lee turned Christian as a teenager in the 1970s, long before Reege and/or the Giff showed up in her future...oy veh...
