Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That is quite a story! I loved that you realized the three phase power requirement was bogus and were thus able to take your time in getting the price to the floor. Can't wait for your review/impressions. At any rate, congratulations!

Congratulations

Laundress, lovely machines. I had the BOL washer from that range with 850rpm spin. My machine had an easy care button that you pressed for washing synthetics. I notice your machine does not have one. I wonder how the machine changes a cotton wash to an easy care wash, is the function linked to the spin speed button do you know?

@paulc

Haven't read the entire manual (that will come at play time when units arrive so one can see and well as touch), but there are three programs for man made fibers depending upon what they are; Fashion, Easy Cares/Cotton/Linen and Easy Iron. In addition the main Easy Cares/Cottons can be programmed to add a water cooling as part of wash cycle. When set to do this the machine will add cold water at the end of the wash cycle if the temp is >40c.

As for the rest it is as Henene4 states, the machine "knows" by load composition what to do; however manual gives 2.5k as the max weight for a load of "Easy Cares".

For what it's worth aside from adding and draining cold water several times at the end of the wash cycle (Cyclic Rinsing) my Miele's wash programme is the same for "Cottons" or "Permanent Press". What does vary is that for the latter it does not spin in between the three deep rinses (instead of five). Something one does not always find satisfactory.

Why One Was So Cautious About This Set

Dithered back and forth for nearly a month or more before pulling the trigger. Quite honestly many of the poor reviews both here in the archives and elsewhere such as YouTube almost put one off.

did not understand if these are "good" AEG German made quality or rubbish. One member who wanted vintage AEG units would have nothing to do with the 8000 series.

Then there are other minor niggles: washer outer drum is the same fiberglass material Miele used for their 4XXX series. Also the washer paddles are the same material and IIRC at least one is removable (what is up with that?). Then there is the matter of the recirculating jet system. Some think it is the best thing since electric lighting, others consider it foul.

Laundress,

These are very good machines. One thing to be aware of though regarding the recirculation jet is be careful when washing dark items that may run. I had a disaster with a load of white towels that I washed after a load of denims. The sump was still full of "blue" water from the jeans, when I put the whites in and the pump turned on they rapidly went a horrible pale blue. After that I always ran the machine empty on a rinse cycle after a load of darks.

I am sure you will love this washer though, they wash very well even when time saver is selected.

Laundress ...Seeing that you have gone thru different machines
in the past ..Asko , Miele im happy that you found the
machine that one deserves.
In 1991 I wash sending for litereture in the UK .
And AEG was one of the manufacturers which was in German
the name was .
I dont not how to say it in german lol .
But the second one I had said ...
Automatic Engeenering from Germany.
I learned about at that time its Variomatic wash system ,
and there styling .
I think or as you would put it..Me thinks you
will like the cold hook up with graduate heating .
As Asko got me spoiled with fast heating.
Clothes are really clean especially my whites !

book on bed lol .

And nowadays AEG is just a brand name put on Electrolux washing machines that have been subjected to so much cost-cutting that it's not even possible to change the bearings anymore...

CONGRATS on getting this Launderess!!   It was my pleasure to assist you with this acquisition!

Yes they are in beautiful condition!   I would have loved to plug them in and play with them, but they are not mine so I resisted.   I have a feeling the washer control panel is back lit and I would love to see that!

I too am waiting to hear what you think of them!

Kevin
