!st kirby I ever used was a Heritage, was in 1986 or so, My Aunt had borrowed it off a Neighbour. WOW ....what a beast of a machine, like pushing a Jumbo round the sitting room!!!

I had LegendII that I got secondhand......had it from 95 til 99 when I stupidly gave it away when I moved...silly me!!

Anyway.....am super Impressed with the D80....it's quiet for a kirby, grooms the carpet very well....I love it!!

P.S feel free to add me on msn Phil.

My grandmother had one of those. She bought it new and used it she bought a new g6 (because it was self propelled). It still worked perfectly when she "traded" it. You can't beat a Kirby.

Paul, you will love the Dual 80!! I have one that Greg gave me and he had it restored. I love the older small head Kirby's the best. Much easier to move around. I do wish it had the paper bag system but if you empty it after every use it really isn't bad to do. Enjoy!!

Ive had the D80 for a week but due to delivery issues I have had to wait for a stepdown transformer so today was the 1st time Ive used it. I am very lucky that this machine was part of a collection and the guy who had it before me has looked after it very well. It runs as if it were brand new. I love the styling of it, especially the colour, plus the small head is more suited to me as I live in a flat. As for the shake out bag....I don't think it will be a problem, the saniemptor makes emptying it a doddle and I can remove the bag and wash in woolite when required.

I had a Kirby Heritage until a few months ago when I trebled the cash I bought it for on ebay.

As much as I love Kirby's I couldnt justify keeping it due to the heavyness. The one thing that put me off was the weight when you need to pull it out for a quick midweek cleanup.
They are seroius cleaning machines!

I would of course have a Sentria in a heartbeat, the TechDrive makes all the difference especially to us who suffer with bad backs and skeletal problems.

James Sentria in all its glory

Yea that's my Kirby you are using....lol.

I know what you mean about the Heratige.....not really made for a quick runaround is it? So what is your daily driver?

The Green Monster!

My Dad purchased a New Kirby D80 in 1968, Now I was only 7 years old and that thing weighed a ton, me and my sister use to call it the Green Monster! It would suck the rugs off the floor, my legos, my sisters doll clothes and more! Dad purchased the whole lot, moth ball crystilizer, shampoo/foamer thingy and all those other crazy attachments, grinder, shoe polisher and who knows what else, loud as all get out too! Back in 1968 he paid close to $1000.00 for that thing according to paperwork I found a couple of years ago!

I hated using attachments I would always pinch my fingers with that damn thing you had to turn and then from time to time that rubber belt inside the floor brush bar would slip off and then it was hell to put back on!

Only thing I was mad about was Dad traded the Sears Kenmore Missile Vacuum (looked like a bomb!) in on the Kirby!

I loved that bomb looking vacuum cleaner and it also had a great soft humming sound almost would put you to sleep!

I got a G5 from a buddy for free earlier this year and I'm in love with that machine! Nothing like a self propelled Kirby!!

The rot has set in!!! Give it a few months and you will have vacs stashed all over the place.

Since January 2008 Paul and myself have collected a staggering 93 vacs all different models and colours which are stored in our unit although once the bug bites you they end up everywhere!!!!

Daily Driver???

I had to give in to my cravings and set about getting me a Sebo.

Fabulous machines and by far the best performing and reliable upright machines on the market aside from splashing out on a Kirby. Pleasantly acceptable noise. No screaming here, and works wonders on all types of floor covering.

They seem to be gaining popularity, Euronics centres and John Lewis/Debenhams stores seem to be helping sales of these which is great. Definitely ones of those which you only have to use once to get addicted. I love mine!!!

I had a Sebo X1 for a while, it was re-conditioned from the local vac repair man. I really liked it but thought something was wrong with it as everytime I used it on the cream bedroom carpets big black oily streaks appeared. I gave it to a friend who had an Ensign labeled Sebo which had been run into the ground and was held together with selotape and string and the auto adjustment had developed a mind of its own!!. I then realised that it was not the cleaners fault.....the guy who we bought the flat off was not the best houskeeper in the world and must not have hoovered very much. Years of grit had desolved the underlay and the Sebo was pulling it all to the surface!! Oh well.....we live and learn!

Great collection of vacuums you have there. My sister still maintains her Turbo Power Junior was the best cleaner she ever had. I saw on Vacuumland the pics of the Hotpoint Swallow, really pleased a collector got it. A neighbour had one when I was little, was always facinated by it. Another neighbour had a McDonald which terrified me .....she live two doors down and you could hear it clear as day everytime she used it.

Anyway.......I should probably ask Santa for membership to Vacuumland!!
