Help Support :

Ooooops forgot the new Surf, will be a sec with that one.

I just love late nighters especially when you have no work in the morning.

Being rather prepared for tomorrow by having plenty ready to put on the line first thing too.

and a little adjustment of water in a bulky load just this once.

The Surf looks lush! When's it out?

I think the thing of having Persil NB tabs as in-drawer and the others in the net is going to be a bit confusing, people might assume all would be the same, so if they used NB and then went to use Bio or Colour they'd still chuck them in the drawer...same with Persil capsules still being 2 per wash and Surf just 1. Nuts!

Surf has really dragged itself up in the last few years, can't wait to give it a sniff.

Nick,

THe Hotpoint 9506 next door, snap it up!!!!

Rare as Hens teeth as it was a Trade Direct exclusive and the ONLY single button Next Generation machine.

Circa August 1994,

Bloody typical as my other half is heading down to Brentwood this weekend on a mission to collect something else for the collection which shall remain top secret until it gets back to Crewe sometime next week.

Il have a word with him and see what we can do whenever it becomes available.
Bearings are no problem to fix so no worries there for us either.

Back to Persil, they lost my loyalty with the awful scent changes and IMO loss of cleaning power,

Tried allsorts since but have settled with.... no you didnt guess!

Ariel!

Cleans brilliantly and now the scent has toned down I quite enjoy it.
Id even say it has "The Edge"

and that sneaky undersink peek you always have when visiting someones home.

Only had the heart to use the Ecover once on some coloureds, not sure if I like it though,

Oh and I notice they've pulled the P&G trick of reducing pack sizes/wash loads on both these new Persil & Surf ranges. Less product for more money. *tuts*

surf packaging

that new luxury format of surf cries out tango orange to me :p

the packaging is reminisant of a tango bottle :P

grrr i was just getting used to the surf tropical tablets, i have been using for the past few months, and i like the in wash net.

i hope the cleaning power doesn't change, as i love the smell of surf tropical.

why don't they just bring out 2 x concentrated persil and surf powders like they do in australia and new zealand

heres the tango packaging, doesn't anyone thing that the new surf looks very tango'ed?

Rob,

Nice to see some Aldi product in that there cupboard too...(powerforce). Aldi laundry products do very well in Choice tests and have out rated OMOmatic and Drivematic (think Persil) the last couple of times they have been tested. if they can just tone the scent down a tad, I'm there...

Is interesting that we only get one of the Surf flavours here as a front load option...and that is Tropical...

Here is the Surf link on Oz...

OOOOO The Surf looks interesting.

And liquitabs also. Im guessing it's the start of the Tablet phase out as there are no tablets in the line up.

I like liquids in the fact that they always seem to leave more fragrance on your clothes than powder. However im always put off with liquid not containing bleach and also the stories of it doing damage to the machine..The drum spider?

Im with you Nick in the fact that instead of a colour powder (Although I do have some) Im thinking about using a Bio liquid because I know there is no bleach.

Can someone explain what damage liquids do to the machine?

Im with Spoodles in the fact that How very confusing having just the Non Bio going into the drawer. We all know people will be putting the other variants into the drawer also. I don't think that was very well thought out by Lever.

I think liquid damage/corrosion to the spider is due to people over-dosing the stuff and not doing maintenance washes.

I use colour liquid for colours and bio powder for whites and for the maintenance wash, and it keeps everything in order!

On the new products, I do think it's a shame that Persil puts all its effort and money into non-bio these days. It just seems like a massive backwards step with inferior cleaning ability and hopeless claims about sensitive skin whilst making their non-bio powder reek of cheap perfume, that must surely send anyone's sensitive skin or allergies into overdrive.

surf capsules

its pretty wierd i would have thought they would have phased out liquitabs as they have the dissolvable plastic which is hardly eco friendly is it?

and yes i agree with the confusion with the tablets going into the drawer and the confusion with the bio/colour gel tablets.

and will removing the phosphates improve the cleaning performance? or remove it?

I much prefer the in wash net, its better that it goes to the heart of the wash rather than in the drawer

Update

Hi

Used the tabs today for first time and will post pics of tabs in drawer, tabs fully dissolved, washing at 40 degrees and second rinse water.

I do like this product. The pics show that they fully dissolve, produce an appropriately sudsed wash, and rinse fairly well. The scent has been tweaked slightly and it's alright, it's a kind of generic Lever scent. Stronger, I asssume, for those folk who choose to wash in cold so that the scent covers up the residual dirt ;-)

Totally agree that it's a very odd decision to keep dosing bio and colour via the net. As I tend to use bio nowadays, and am loyal to tablet format, it would appear that Persil is still not going to rebecome my main product.

Along with Rob, I am also using Ariel bio sometimes (though tablets) and they have certainly toned down the scent to the extent that you can marry it up with certain fabric conditioners quite nicely. I see, Rob, that you are using a professional pack of concentrate blue Comfort?

My main three (all P/G tabs) are Ariel, Daz and Bold Purple. My fave scent of detergent on the market is Bold Purple. However, I have found Bold to clean significantly less well than Ariel or Daz. I haven't noticed a difference in cleaning
between Ariel and Daz, though I don't doubt that scientifically Ariel is slightly better as the ingredients list confirms. I slightly prefer, however, the scent of Daz tablets - STILL, despite the change in size, using original Daz vintage scent. I really hope all the recent stuff on here about tablets being phased out will not become a reality.

Interestingly, I have just had my third Son, Mark, who is now a month old. Have ignored all the marketing driven `guilt factor' feelings I have programmed into me - they even give you samples of Fairy in hospital - and washed all his clothes in Ariel/ Bold or Daz. He has had the best, clearest skin of all the boys so far.

Some will remember me championing Lidl's Formil tablets on here a while back. I love them in every way except cleaning. Over time, it became clear they weren't performing as well as my regulars.

I have yet to find a fabric conditioner which I really like the scent of. Still feel Comfort Pure is my fave, and it's certainly a nice match with Ariel or Daz tabs, but only as it's the `best of a bad bunch'. Prefer the scent of detergent. Recently tried some of the Olive Blossom one - wasn't happening for me - smelled of suntan lotion.

Apologies if this post doesn't make sense. Am looking after 3 boys as a I type! Who said men can't multitask?

Cheers

Nick

They're obviously testing it out on the non-bio tablets before committing to it for everything else.

Well

My local Sainsburys still doesn't have the Persil Non-Bio tablets but does have the new Non-Bio powder. Same claim as the tablets "outstanding results" at 15 degC. Will get some tomorrow ( payday ) and give it a go.
