I know I will seem incredibly young to be on here I am only 13, but i have always had a love for washers, I hope you will accept me even though I am still very young.

Thanks for the compliments on my laundry - it has to be one of my best ideas yet . I actually got my AEG's and Miele at good prices - albeit still relatively expensive (£1400 in total for the 3 of them), if I paid full price they would have cost over £2000 in total.

Welcome to automaticwasher.org, Daniel -- where absolutely nothing but a love for the appliances matters. I don't think you'll find any snobbery or such here because of age.

I have limited space (I live in an apartment) I don't have any vintage washers or such - I express my obsession with vintage vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances. I was attracted to this site seeing the restorations and such people have done on their appliances that are just amazing.

Not to worry, you've just made a whole bunch of new friends with this great group of people!

Very interesting, this sudden influx of young guys from England. I have a hypothesis about that...

What I'd like to know is: what kind of washer did your families have when you were first old enough to be aware of it?

And then, from anyone with knowledge of those particular machines, what was the frequency of the reversal of the agitator during the wash cycles? As in, how many times per minute did it reverse direction? And were there any other noteworthy similarities among those machines?

As for getting hassled about being interested in appliances: anyone gives you that crap, ask them if they would prefer if you were using heroin or getting your female classmates pregnant. That ought to make them stop & think....

Remember, diversity is good. And around here you find a really broad cross section: all ethnicities, all ages, men & women, straight & gay, many religions including no religion, wealthy & working-class, and enough nationalities that it's hard to keep track. And folks here are nice & polite too, which is a rare virtue these days, and they don't yell or cuss much either. I'd say the mainstream culture could learn a thing or two from that.

Design Geek when I was first aware that we had a washing machine and could use it was a 14 year old Indesit F/L much better made then than they are nowadays, it used to thouroughly wash about 20 econds left tumble and 20 seconds right tumble.

Hey Daniel i love hoover washers, i see your washer-dryer is the last of the six series models.

The six series was a dodgy set of models, the nextras are nice tho, my friend has 2 (2000) hoover performer 1100 washers, they are nice washers even tho they are the first candy design washers. they are still going after being used about 8 times a day (in communal housing)

I have quite a range from an old Hoover Electronic 1100 De Luxe through Philco Bendix 7168 and 71258 (Both with super quiet Electronicly controlled Induction Motors), a Servis Quartz 1000 model 602, a Whirlpool 3LSC8255EQ1 8.2Kg American Top Loader and I must not forget my Dyson CR01 Memory. I cannot remember them all of the top of my head, old age LOL. I am not amused as I cannot get near the majority of my collection because of Mum storing furniture in the garage where I keep most of them. I will have to list them all when I can get at them better.

WOW!! great collection of washers there hugh!! My nana and aunty used to have Bendix washers (My nana had an late 80's Bendix 71388 Autowasher 1000 Deluxe) and my aunty had the basic 800rpm model, they were old reliable zanussi washers underneath the bendix badge, sadly they got replaced with bosch washers, my grandma now has a 2001 WFG2020 washer and my aunt has a bosch classixx 1000.

I love my zanussi jetsystem washer, its nearly 4 years old (in october 2005) and nothing has gone wrong with it. I have a zanussi fridge-freezer thats 13 years old (1992) so i'm hoping my washer lasts that long!!
