"New" utility washer & dryer GE

Hi all. Well, I have a need for a washer dryer set to do some shop towels and drop cloths, stuff too nasty to put in the vintage sets inside. I've got two pre-80s sets already but have aquired these too. Anyway, I'm prettty sure these are pre 85 but was wondering what year. They are in a condo that is being re-done and the owner is getting new apppliances.

You can see the damage done to the console, you can just wipe off the orginal paint at the bottom. too bad. But they both work and have seen light duty for the last 23 years (single little old lady)

Here is a dishwasher that is also going to be discarded. It works too but has developed some rust inside. Just putting it out there -- is there some rare part on this I should snatch? I suppose I could grab the timer...

Here is the rest of the kitchen. They are keeping these as they are in pretty good condition. Those push button and calrod units are the same as on my 48 stove (my stove lights up, though)

I would love to have that dishwasher. It brings back memories. My aunt had the porable version and I used to love helping her load it and push the buttons. To bad you are so far from me =)

Washer and Dryer Year

Are these from the same year? The washer has toggle buttons but the dryer has push buttons?

I kind of thought older than 80's also, because of the wire clothes guard. What year did they change to plastic? Northwesty those avocado GE's sure are purdy. alr2903

I believe they are 1972 or earlier - the graphics on the timer changed in 1973.

Those dishwashers might actually be louder than a bow-tie.
Sounds like a Disposall complete with snapping solinoids.

Paul is right, that is the first series PotScrubber. It should be saved. Those were VERY NICE appliances for a condo back then!!! I think I can see the oven is self-cleaning. and to answere wigwag's comment, it was pretty common for the md-line to higher end GE dryers to have push buttons and the lower end dryers toggle switches. And they are the same year.

I can't quite tell, but is this a model with 3 agitation speeds like Jon's?

1972-3, thanks for the info.

Looks like there is two speeds for wash and two speeds for spin. I thought they looked fancy enough to be more of a high end model.

Brian thanks. From the angle of the first picture it looked like the top toggle switch was in a middle position. Cool, that wassher has an extended auto soak cycle. drool. Hmm, I just noticed that's one of the big-door GE dryers.

These 1972-73's extra large washtubs look bigger (WIDER & DEEPER) than the 80's and 90's washers. I mean the ones that have this perforated 'HOLE' design. Can these tubs be 18 and up capacities? I understand there were 21 lbs. GE's at one time. Who's ever lucky enough to get these I envy you.

My grandmother had the exact washer in white - same exact lettering on the control panel. She had a matching dryer that was not the "big door" type like yours appears to be. She purchased them new in 1973.

Maiden wash, for me anyway

Seems to work great except that overflow rinse there had me worried. It keeps going through the wash cycle. Didn't overflow though, this must use up alot of water! Looking under the skirt it seems to actually be in really good shape.

Overflow rinse?? Do you mean the recirculation stream at the right rear? That's the FilterFlo at work. There should be a filter pan sits atop the agitator.
