New washer advice

Hi guys

Cutting a long story short I am refurbishing my brothers kitchen over the next few weeks and i am going to finally lay his hotpoint washer to rest, its been in the family since 1986 and passed from house to house and although it is still working excellent the dreaded rust has set in and its just coming to the end of its hard life,.

So my question is what should i get next, he has special needs so needs something he can use easily and the machine will only be on maybe 2-3 times a week unlike mine which does in excess of 20 loads a week.

Have a budget of around £250 for one but have been put off with the new machines i have bought over the past few years as they just dont last,

Any advice for a good budget machine would be really appreciated.

you can get a tricity bendix washer for £249 made my electrolux group =]

or a whirlpool for £249 from currys

Are the new ones ok, i absolutley refuse to have a whirlpool had really bad experince with one but if the new zannusi are ok i will get one, i know the old ones run for like alomst ever, my mate has had his for 11 years and no probs, thanks guys

No definately the Zanussi or Tricity,

You just cant go wrong with an Electrolux machine.

Check out ebay, there are a few top end machines on there for crazy buy it now prices.

Noticed a ZWF1440W in unused condition last week for £220!

Lots similar.

Have to say i adore electrolux group machines. I absalutely love my new zanussi. Good job really as i'm not allowed to change the machine in the kitchen until it dies lol! Can do what i like in my shed in the new house!

I own a 2001 Zanussi XC FJS1225W, and its nearly 8 years old in october. and nothing has gone wrong with it

brilliant machine and we use it quite alot as well =]

We have 2.

A Westinghouse (think John Lewis machine) that is just over 3yrs old. The suspension is starting to go as it does like to get a bit noisy of late, but this machine has done up to 20 loads a week....which for an average house hold is nearly 9yrs work...

And we have an 'all push button' electrolux badged Zanussi in a rental that we have never been asked to fix anything on which to my mind means nothing has gone wrong....its 4yrs old...

I think weak suspension appears to be their only real fault and that should only show after 2000 odd loads

Zanussi/Electrolux all the Way.....

Cant fault my Electrolux EWF12108 - only problem is its now on a 2nd floor wood floor so can be a bit bouncy on spin lol- here it is with the (Nearly) matching Zanussi-Electrolux ZDB5377 dryer

Darren I am gonna get a zanussi i am sold lol been looking on the comet website and there is one on there that looks simple enough to use for my brother. I just feel so bad getting rid of the hotpoint but as i said it is literally come to the end of it hard life, i think 23 years is enough and thinking back and asking the folks it has never had a bearing change only the carbon brushes 3 times. I will do a few piccies and post before the machine goes. Thanks again guys i would never have considered a zanussi before
