NEW WESTINGHOUSE WASHER AND DRYER

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The 4-vane full contact pump was WH standard as far back as pre-1950. A baby sock could slither in and impede function but not damage anything. Just thumb the cover off and pull it out. I did that more than once before I was 10yo. Had infant siblings and I knew how the WH came apart. Dad might have, mom definitely didn't. I don't think I ever got credit for that. Should I go picket their graves? Naw, too far from a fridge full of beer.

Hi all – I am the lucky purchaser of this NIB set. I cannot wait for them to arrive. I am not too mechanically inclined and could use advice on any steps / measures to take before using these since they have been stored for so long. I have the larger Miele set as my current daily drivers, but may put them aside and use these for a while until I can install separate plumbing. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. Once I get them I’ll post some more pics and try to post some videos.

Washer Boot.....

....Probably needs to be removed, treated by applying glycerin (from the drugstore) and reinstalled.

This will help prevent a premature failure due to 35-year-old rubber being put into service as if it were new. It may look new, but it's not; rubber ages and hardens just from sitting around.

I would do this even if a "touch test" shows the rubber to still be supple. That boot would be a very difficult part to replace, so I'd take tender loving care of it.

Hmm, glycerine and rubber

The pump vanes are rubber too. Unless someone else says not to, mix the leftover glycerin with a half gallon hot water, pour in tub and let it sit overnight. If glycerin conditions boots it should condition pumps and some of the hoses.

Speaking of hoses, might replace the inlet hoses that come with it. If one of those pops it's a whopping mess.

New WH Stackable Pair

James congratulations on your new machines, I don't know where in Maryland you live but if you need any help with these machines let me know. I have been installing and repairing these machines since yours were built and we not only have lots of service experience but about any part you might ever need.     John.
