I bought this Maytag recently ended works. The guy had it sitting outside so the dial indicators are trashed .
But I need to start looking for the dryer to it so I need to know the year....

Believe it or not I just found the made less than an hour after I posted this message.
Asking $200.
I've never bought a dryer before, but seeing as this is the only one that matches my washer he has me in a spot.
Also wondering how much power this electric dryer will use.

Dryer.

That is an earlier machine of the later center-dial era. This washer looks to date from 1966-1974, note the blue strip instead of the later gold at the bottom of the control panel and the white dial face instead of brushed aluminum. The model number of the washer likely goes something like A?06.

You would be looking for a Halo of Heat dryer. These dryers have model numbers that look like D??06. D = Dryer, E = Electric, G = Gas, number = which control system / features, and 06 = Halo of Heat. A letter in front of the above-referenced model umbers indicates a color other than white. H = Harvest Gold, K= Avocado, etc.

I'll assume you'll find an electric dryer, which would start with DE. If you look for a gas dryer, it would start with DG, and have a small burner access door on the front.

Available models are as follows (I think this is accurate).

DE/DG106 = BOL. This is as basic as it gets. Watch out, however, there is a newer version of this one made from 1975-1980 that has the lint filter in front and uses the newer style guts.

DE/DG306 = Average. This timed cycle-only dryer offers regular, perminant press, and air fluff.

DE/DG606 = MOL. This dryer offers electronic controlled sensor-based drying. Set the dial for what you are drying and the dryer takes care of the rest. This is the highest you can go and have it match your washer.

DE/DG806 = TOL. Same as the DE/DG606, but with a backlit control panel and a drum light.

DE/DG906 = Super-TOL. These are rare as hens teeth. They are ther same as the DE/DG806, but with the cycle selection as a row of buttons instead of a dial.

Roddy, $200 for the one in the 2nd photo you posted is pricey. With scratches plus both in-dents and out-dents, plus being a lower end model, I wouldn't give more than $75 for it.

Good Luck!
Kevin

$200 is way too much for a dryer that old.  The suggestion of $50 is much more realistic.

I'm confused though.  The second picture is of a washer, not a dryer.  Is that the same washer as in the first pic?

Also, another way to identify a companion/Halo-of-Heat dryer is the location of the lint screen.  On HOH dryers it's on the back of the drum.  On later models, it's up front by the door.
