Lol at JeffG!!

Well had a look in a couple of supermarkets today and no joy on the NEW Persil Small and Mighty front. Did buy some Persil Bio powder though as am bored of Ariel and Bold, plus my Hubby always moans about the smell of Ariel Actilift when clothes are drying indoors......it gives him a headache.

Still haven't found the new Small and Mighty although did get a bix box of the new improved Persil Bio Powder, will keep you guys psoted on how it performs.

The "New" powder smells and looks the same but the blurb on the back of the box implies you will not need products such as vanish to help remove stains and keep things white. I haven't had and really dirty stuff to wash yet so can't comment on tough stain removal. I will say that my white towels seem to be fluffier with the new powder, I don't have a drier so quite often have "cardboard" towels.

Will keep you posted of how it works when I have a really dirty wash.

Persil

Hi Paul.

The Persil website is not up to date. I was using Persil with the freshness of comfort, then one day I could not find it in the supermarket.

I emailed Unilever and the reply I got was, sorry, its not made anymore. But it,s still on their website.

I do like the small and mighty liqued, smells nice and does a good job.

I noticed the website is not up to date either although they do have the new Small and Mighty liquid on there.

Must say am impressed with the powder so far, still haven't had anything really dirty to wash though.

Danmatn.....I don't know where you would get british Persil in the states.....maybe some members from the USA could help out with that question.

Sorry guy's

Forgot to update you on the "New" Persil bio's performance. I used it for a week and thought it did ok, though my whites sparkle seemed to dissapear, washed a load of whites in Ariel Actilift after a week and my whites sparkled again so it's a thumbs down for new persil. Plus the Persil really faded light coloureds so I think it may be very "bleach" heavy, also I noticed quite bad pilling of cotton fabrics which you don't get with Ariel.

Did any UK chaps see The one show last night? there was a segment on washing:D And detergents! showing footage of the which testing. Ariel/bold Were the best Gels. Persil got panned and there responce was the liquid tested is no longer avaliable the new small and mighty is improved etc.

Theres footage of the new style miele's washing away too.

If you didnt catch it you can see it on the BBC iplayer.

do you use ariel actlift powder or gel? I'm not keen on Ariel, the strong smell of the powder gives me a headache, so i prefer persil for the subtle smell. And thats pretty odd if the whites aren't white with Persil, as in which? magazine it got 5/5 for whiteness as Daz got 5/5 for whiteness too.

I use Persil Bio/Non Bio powder, I find its great on whites and haven't had a problem with whiteness, and doesnt fade any dark clothes when i use the quick 30*c wash.

I've always felt

Persil didn't quite cut it against Ariel, It's been about 3 years since I've used the bio verson and was tempted to get some next time I need some, but from what you have said Paul I think I'll just stick with my trusty Ariel :)

A lot of people seem to have a problem with the smell, but for me it's barely noticable on the clean clothes, and if I use softner I can't smell it at all. I'd say go for the febreeze effect variant if the scent is a problem, it's certainly milder and more 'sweet' smelling.

I like the smell of Perisl Bio, but I find the colour and liquid versions (apart from the non-bio) very unpleasant indeed. I guess these detergent scents are a love it or hate it kinda thing.

Seems odd to me that Persil are making a big deal out of the small and mighty having "pre-treaters included". It's said that on the bottle since it was introduced, yet it's being made to seem like a new thing. I guess thats marketing spin for you.

I use Actilift Powder for whites and light colours and Gel or Liquitabs for darks.

Persil did get things white but not as white as Ariel. I quite like the smell of Ariel powder and love the smell of the liquitabs. Also there seems to be less pilling of fabrics with Ariel.

Hoover1100, I agree about the Persil liquid smells, I am not a fan although I love the smell of Persil Non Bio liquid in the big bottles.
