Newbie!

Hi All,

I'm James, and I'm from Sacramento, CA and I am new to this site. I was wondering if there is anyone in my neck of the woods or if anyone knows of anything around here (appliance grave yard or something) to go to. I have a HUGE garage that's just crying for a few washers and dryers. Thanks!

Hi,

I live in Sacramento too as does Steve (Sactoteddybear) Frontaloadotmy is nearby in Grass Valley.

I havn't had much luck finding machines here. No one has basements to store a lifetime of excess appliances. Most people buy new stuff and the store takes the old stuff. The newish stuff goes to used appliance stores. I got my filter-flow at a used appliance store, but it's a 1994 and not classic yet. But it is a lot of fun. Steve gave me my 1-18, which was so generous! I have not restored it yet.

Enjoy the site, it and the people here are the best!

Howdy from another Texan everyone!!

John, another "vertical-action" GM Frigidaire fan here! I'm in Bellville and have 2 in my collection so far (looking for more)...a 1952 WO-65-2 Unimatic, and a 1978 1-18 model WC...both work great! I found the 1-18 in San Antonio, and the Unimatic was a birthday gift from our Webmaster, Robert (Unimatic1140), who restored the machine (which was found in Tulsa along with many others). We're working on the "laundry shed" at the moment...but it will be done soon and I'll be planning a full-scale wash-in! So come on out!

My White-Westinghouse "Dual-Tumble" front-loader came from Dallas, and I haven't seen another one since, so there's bound to be something good there! Check the used-appliance stores (especially if there are machines out back as well) and you're bound to find something!

Here's a picture of my WO-65-2...the best Frigidaire design ever made, with an 1140 RPM spin! I'll post a picture of the interior if you're interested.

Hey,
The organ is an Allen Digital Computer Organ 202-c. It's from the 70's, but still sounds pretty good. Has 5 pre-programed pistons, and the stop tabs don't move like most. Found it on ebay from a guy not too far from here. The main circuit board was replaced in 97' so hopefully it will keep running for a while. Wasn't to fun getting up the ramp of the u-haul though. It came with the orginal speakers but they were way too big for the house so have 4 stereo speakers hooked up to it. It actaully sounds better that it did with the original one.

Hi glad you came on board we have something in common and that is I also play the organ. Have played for church in Kentucky and also in Nebraska where I live. I don't have an organ right now but I am looking for one. My favorites are Hammond and Conn,also like some models of Baldwin. But I really like the Hammond B3 or C3 models. I have had two organs a Hammond M-101 and a Conn don't remember what model it was. Oh, BTW, My folks live in Grand Prerie and also a brother and his family and I have two brothers that live in Irving, Mike and Tim. Tim is married, his wife barb go to a Methodist church there and are quite active. Now let me tell you about the washers that I like. I like Norge or Montgomery Wards or any on the old Norge brands. Next I like the Westinghouse laundomat series washers, any of the 50's and 60's Frigidaires also like the new Frigidaires and White-Westinghouse washers, the ge filterflo machines and Hotpoint oh yes and Speed Queen machines. Hi! James and John, it's always great to see more and more people joining the Automatic Washer Club Site. I'm glad to see that we've got another Member now living in my City area of Sacramento, CA also. As Martin mentioned, we met I believe last year some time, when I gave him a Frigidaire "1-18" Washer, that needed probably quite some work done on it. I hope that he will be able to get it operating again some time. He will certainly as with others have a great time watching it's Wash, Rinse and Spin, besides the Spin-Drain also, as well as the Recirculating Lint Filter too.

Please let us know of any new finds when they show up for you, it is always great seeing and hearing about the new finds, as with the ones that have already been Restored.

Mention of the Hammond organ reminds me of the Don Lane show, a late night TV show here in the seventies (and eighties??)with host Don and his co-host Bert Newton.

One segment was "Bert's Wheel", a "spin the wheel" game segment where one of the prizes was a Hammond organ.

Bert's spiel when mentioning the Hammond was "remember, it only takes five five minutes, two fingers and an organ to have a ball!"

You would have liked the Montgomery Ward's washer my mom had when I was growing up. Ton's of square shinny buttons (determined water temp, wash and spins speeds all on one button, so there were many for all the combinations. Infinite water levels, burpolator agitator, blue fabric softener dispenser, the automatic detergent dispenser on the top right, and bleach dispenser. I could kick myself for talking them into a kenmore the Day care was giving away.
