Newer Whirlpool dishwasher rinse aid dispensers

Has anyone here had or heard of problems with the rinse aid dispenser on newer Whirlpool or Kenmore dishwashers? My Whirlpool model has developed a leak, which within a day or two of filling the dispenser, all the rinse aid has run out into the wash tub. I've never overfilled it so I'm convinced there's something wrong with the dispenser mechanism. The screw cap tightens snug so the threads can't be stripped. When the machine is turned on, the tub fills up with suds to the point the motor seems to labor.

I ordered a new dispenser and cap today from my local appliance dealer. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Thanks for any input on this.

My Maytag Taller-Tub:

Dishwasher doesn't leak out the Rinse Aid Liquid, but it does the very same thing as yours does, as far as {when the machine is turned on, the tub fills up with suds to the point the motor seems to labor}.

I've been using the Wal-Mart Great Value Powder Detergent and I've always noticed the Dishwasher sounding like it was "Labouring" although everything seems like it gets clean and without any Detergent Residual.

Has anyone else experienced this happening, actually with any other Brands of Dishwashers?

my AEG Oeko ... Favorit 6071 ( bought in 1999, then E'lux) lately uses a lot of RA.

The dispenser is set on low and the screw cap is ok, otherwise I'd see the leak on the door.

But after about 7 or 8 loads the lights glows again and the glass device on the dispenser displays low level.

I suspect it is the dosage mechanism itself that's no more watertight while the tub is hot, cause I haven't any suds

Everything comes out sparkling clean so I don't bother.

Ummmmm YES! My dishwasher will be 5 yrs old this April. A year ago it developed a leak and rinse aid would leak out the door down into the tub. I googled this and had NO trouble running across others having this same problem. I don't use rinse aid anymore and haven't really had any problems at all with the dishwasher otherwise. It's been good so far. I think there is some sort of defect in these dispensers. Just use Cascade Complete powder and everything has been fine.

Ever since Jet Dry started making their rinse aid with more of a water like consistency rather than a lotion consistency, I have had to fill up the dispenser a lot more often also.

I have had the detergent/rinse aid dispenser replaced twice. Third times the charm. It is three years old.

Just my 2 cents, WP Is getting sucky, Lucky me my mom has an Miele from 2005 or 2006.

My Whirlpool is on it's third computer board also. It's a DU1100 if anyone wants to buy one. Also it the second dishwasher in three years. First one was DU1101, and it had the repairman there twice, so I took it back to sears and traded it in on the DU1100. Whirlpool is not what it used to be.

that came with the house in 2005 has developed the same problem with leaking of the rinse agent that everyone has talked about here. I got so tired of filling the dispenser, only to find it was leaking out and having to replace it within a month. So I have been using Finish/Jet-Dry rinse agent baskets. Each one lasts about 3-9 months and seems to do a good job. I might replace the dispenser and cap like Rob and Amyswasher did. I also liked Gary thoughts about the rinse agents being too watery. Sounds like a complaint letter is going to Jet-Dry company.

I use Cascade Complete,no rinse aid. I fill the rinse aid dispencer with water when it says it is low.

Fixed with success!

The replacement parts arrived yesterday and I installed them without major problems. The new dispenser and cap are holding the rinse aid with no leaks! While the repair really wasn't necessary, I just wanted to experiment with small do-it-yourself projects to get a feel if appliance repair is something I'd like to do at some point in life.
