Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That Maytag is the A700 from early 60's.  That was mothers first Automatic.  I do like that Speed Queen set.  Never saw one up close.

True, but the Sturgis people have been slow on the response. I wrote them the other day to ask it was available. They replied yes. I wrote back that I'd be through the area in 2 weeks (now), and could pick it up then. I also added I'd be willing to pay in advance. This was all on 7/3 and no response yet. :( I figured I'd try them again when it was closer to see if it was still around and if they were interested in my offer. Besides, I'm hoping that the washer combo52/John's friend Tom's will work out. It is far easier to get than something from halfway across the country...

Sturgis is a 10 hour trip from Cincinatti. I just was hoping to make a day trip (get up early, drive there, pick it up, come back and spend the night, then head home the next morning). 15 hours is pushing it on my vacation (and I don't want to ship it... bad experience involving a van, a wreck, and a nightmare in communication). I'll think about it.

Oops...

Not sure how I made a math error. We'll see if it's available when I get up there... no response from the seller still. That's a very important piece of the puzzle. :/

John (combo52) has one of those stacked Speed Queen sets with the tilt-out washer. They are really cool machines!

And the Maytag washer looks just like my '65 that I found locally! One of the very few machines that I have bought and not had to do any serious work on. They're great performers, too. Hope someone here can save it!

SQ Stack Washer-Dryer

These were pretty rare as they were very expensive and heavy. This was the only full sized TL stack when they introduced them in the early 1980s [ Westinghouse had a full sized FL stack since 1963 ] Then MT followed with their FSS in 1985, Frigidaire and WP followed around 1988 and WP 1989 with their 27" Super Thin-Twin.

The Frigidaire Skinny-Mini wasn't in the same league as any of these full sized machines as it was much smaller [1/2 the capacity ] and had very poor durability even compared to the White industries Franklin washer Westinghouse dryer 27" TL stack.
