Nice pair of Maytags

Hello I bought a set of Maytags in good condition for the age which I'd like to know what year they are .I can't find information on the washer,the tag is rusted but on the matching dryer it says De106 hopefully that's enough to find the year and parts.l love them they both work awesome and alot quietly than my 1981 Kenmore 70 series do. I found them on Craigslist for 100.The only thing is the washer has a loud squeak when the drum stops at sin cycle hope it not serious but other than that they are Cool !

Great old workhorses. Maytag's squeak, sling a bit of oil and each one has its own distinctive sound. Just quirky most of the time. They look mid to late 60's to me. So they may have another 50 years of life left in them as long as rust issues don't get them.
Better insure yourself with a few parts before they are gone. Belts,glides,rollers,pump,etc.
Clean and polish the cabinets with a good automotive cleaner-wax and they should look like new.

This is a big-load dryer, with the center dial control panels, so I think they have to be made between 1976 and 1980, approximately.

I'm definitely no expert on dating things. But judging on the style of knobs it has and the newer design of the dryer I would guess late 70s.

Whatever the exact age, they're great.

It would help if I could see inside the washer. The clear plastic jewel around the control knob says late seventies. If the agitator is all-turquoise, it's likely after 1975 (most likely the A106 pictured below); if the agitator's black with a turquoise lint filter top, slightly before.

 

This looks like a great BOL-ish pair. And even though HOH dryers are classic, the big-door Tag's are better dryers.

My washer has a black agitator , the tub is dark solid grey. I will say that the washer will only operate when the lid is shut . I cant see my washer agitate in operation with the lid open like most older washers will let you see your clothes wash without stopping .the trim around the control panels on both machines are a l grey , not the iconic crome plated trim that older maytags had . I would have to say that mine must be 1979 0r 1980 , My dream washer and dryer are the digital 70series 1980 to 85 if I can find a pair but they are super rare

Ok, so if it's a late seventies machine maybe you only have 60 years of life left in it.
Still, a good find.

To see your washer agitate, or even spin, stick a coin at the back of the lid, to keep the switch pushed in.

i'm betting late 60s

My grandmother had this same set when i was very young and i would say that they bought them in 66 or 67 or no later than 68. They had a grey tub, black agitator and aqua colored lint filter. And the on/off switch at the back of the lid so it stopped when you opened the lid. They were work horses. We lived on a farm and during the summer she would spend whole days doing laundry once a week where it ran non-stop from early morning till end of the day.

My mother's first Maytag was bought in 1966.  It had hot, warm, cold, and small medium, large buttons with the plastic insert that said "Automatic" where other models had buttons.  Hers was very BOL but the tub was white and the agitator was turquoise.  What model would that have been?  I don't know because back then I didn't look at model plates.

@askolover - sounds like she had an A406. Large capacity (white-only tubs where standard capacity was the grey/blue tub), single speed fabric-matic.

maytag label on washer

My tag that identify the model numbers is worn so bad I cant see the numbers but my dryer on the other hand drys very well gets hot quickly and stays hot through out the cycle drys better than my 1980s Kenmore soft heat dryer . I didn't have to do nothing more than a quick wipe on the outsides of my maytags and just plugged them in and that's it.

Hi THAT LOOKS LIKE A GREAT WASHER AND THANKS FOR RESPONDING . THE ONE I AM LOOKING FOR ARE THE KENMORE 70 SERIES ELECTRONIC SERIES WASHER AND DRYER BUT ITS BEEN A HARD SEARCH.
